On the one hand, they are former members of ISIS who were recently accused of "slaughtering Christians."

On the other hand, they hate Iran and are attacking Hezbollah. We hate Iran and Hezbollah, too, right? And so does Israel.

So, the new Syrian regime is allied with Israel and the US, right?

This is all so confusing.

Hezbollah “ambushed and kidnapped three members of the Syrian Arab Army on the Syrian-Lebanese border near the Zeita Dam, west of Homs, before taking them to Lebanese territory and executing them on the spot,” the Syrian Defense Ministry told state media.

It continued, “We will take all necessary measures after this dangerous escalation by Hezbollah militias,” SANA reported.

Following Sunday’s announcement, Lebanese media reported that the Syrian Army had begun shelling Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, a Hezbollah stronghold.

During the shelling, the terror group denied any responsibility for the kidnapping and murder of the soldiers, telling pro-Hezbollah media, “We reiterate what we have previously announced repeatedly: Hezbollah has no connection to any events taking place within Syrian territory.”

Sounds like something we shouldn’t get involved with at all.

War is all those people know. Until Islam goes through some type of reformation, “we” aren’t on anyone’s side.

But we already are (or were). This report is less than 3 months old:

In a surprise announcement, the Pentagon revealed that it has not been offering an accurate count of how many U.S. troops it has had in Syria, with the actual figure more than double the official count.

"I learned today that, in fact, there are approximately 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria," Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters, before adding that "these additional forces are considered temporary rotational forces that deploy to meet shifting mission deployments."

The newly revealed troop numbers come after the U.S. military has waged dozens of airstrikes in Syria in recent days as part of a major uptick in the yearslong operations against the Islamic State terrorist group following the collapse of President Bashar Assad's regime. A round of strikes on Monday killed 12 militants and an earlier round of 75 strikes on Dec. 8 was conducted by B-52 Stratofortress bombers, F-15E Strike Eagle and A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft.

See post above. We are in it, or were in it very recently.

Our DoD was supporting Assad, and our CIA was supporting the rebels. Or vice/versa. I cannot keep it straight.

We were proxy-warring against ourselves.

Because we have funded both sides of this thing. We need to stay out of it! When Muslims want to kill each other, we should let them.

Many are for it, despite the slaughter of Christians. A large segment of American evangelicals would watch every Christian on Earth be slaughtered if it benefitted Israel or was in their interest. They're truly brainwashed.

This is the new American position, and will be until the next 9/11.

That's correct. The change in regime has to come from the people within. That's the only way it will be a good change that is lasting. When they get fed up enough, it will happen.

Not only is this extremely inaccurate, it borders on anti-Semitic. Sounds like somebody didn't like going to Sunday School and has spent his life taking it out on society.

I’d rather have Assad than what’s there now. But like others have said, stay out of it. American troops shouldn’t die in Syria.

Or, 9/11 happened BECAUSE we got involved on both sides of every pissing match, and perhaps wouldn’t have happened at all if we minded our damned business.

It’s a proxy war between Turkey and Iran, for control of Syria. Both want Israel gone and both want to have influence in Syria. My guess, we’re gonna help finish Iran and its proxies off. For one, they’re much easier to deal with militarily and geopolitically. Then we’ll have to help Israel whenever a conflict between them and Turkey occurs. That’s when things will get even more complex and the consequences will become much greater.
