dealing with moles in the backyard.

Is the poison humane? I hate how mean the poison for mice is (takes up to several days for them to die) and so I wind up using snap traps instead.

Since she's smart it shouldn't be hard to get her to dig them up, my lab learned pretty quick. You can see where the runs stop as soon as they come under the fence. She's hell on them. Haven't had one make it further than a foot or so under the fence in 4 years.

Trust me, I wish she would. She doesn't dig at all. She knows something is down there but all she does is just stick her nose in the hole and stare at it.

But also I don't really want to start digging holes everywhere. She can be pretty obsessive about things and I don't want her destroying the back yard.

I would look at the ultrasonic ones also. They seem to have good reviews, but I have no experience with them.

I’m wondering if this is going to be a recurring thing to deal with. The neighbors behind us have chickens and I’ve always been told you typically have rodent problems with them.

moles are not rodents and dont eat chicken feed. they eat worms and grubs and are unrelated to keeping poultry.

Buddy at work said it might actually be a Vole instead of a mole and that could be why they’re hanging out on that side of the years near the chickens.

He gave some great advice that fragrant things like Mint and marigolds do really well at keeping them away. Said to get some peppermint oil and drizzle it around the yard.

I also have problems with them every summer. I typically use some poison gas that you can get at tractor supply or Lowe’s. It is kind of like a flare that you light andd stick it in the hole. Cool thing is, the tunnels aren’t sealed well, so you can see the smoke coming out from tunnels all over your yard.

I wouldn’t use the poison bait shaped like worms, because pets may be able to get that.

I've used that along with poison worm bait both worked haven't had any in a yr and a half thank god, those little frickers do some damage.
