Amendment 2 on church exemptions

From what I’m understanding this amendment will cause churches to not be tax exempt. So that means taxes on offerings given and property taxes? Can someone explain this to me if I’m reading that wrong.

Yes. The priest mentioned it at church this morning.

Not a fan of this at all.

No, property tax only, not income.
And the way it's written this will only affect some churches, not all.

The moment churches begin holding Get Out the Vote activities or endorse a given candidate, they should lose their tax exemption, immediately.

I understand why people look at massive churches and rich pastors and say tax the churches but the reality is, the overwhelming majority of churches are small and don’t have near the income/resources people think they do. If anything, I advocate for less taxes on everyone, not more taxes to a bloated government in the interest of “fairness.”

Churches in Louisiana are already getting killed by higher insurance costs. Throw in property taxes, many will fold.
I don’t like this.
Govt always wants more more more. Eliminate the fricking waste and cut spending.
Eta
And screw these damn amendments. What do we vote these dumbasses to BR to do?

Anyone who advocates to TAX something they don't like out of existence is neither a conservative or in my opinion an American.

If we had flat tax it fixes this problem. Only taxed when they spend the money.

Why? Plenty of tax exempt not for profits have a politically motivated purpose. Why do you want to silence churches?

I don’t like how there are so many things lumped into amendment 2
I heard someone say they crammed 100 pages of law changes into one amendment.
While I support most of the tax changes, there should have been separate amendments for all the changes.
Also, throwing statewide amendments on an off election cycle in the spring when the BFE Fire District throws a millage renewal or the BFE Dog Catcher has retired before the end of his term and a special election is called are the only things on the ballot should send out a red flag this amendment smells like hot garbage in the middle of the summer.

Done with the Church’s getting 5013C status. Churches have become what they are not supposed to be. Teach the Gospel. And I went to 12 years of Catholic School.

Maybe but that has nothing to do with tax fee status. That is the culture.

This would fix a lot more than Churches it would take all the money out of Politics. Not going to happen in our lifetime.

I have been in education 30 years. They lumped the teacher pay raise in this one hoping to get more yes votes. I’m voting no on this one.
