Looking past 2025, I wanted to find a long term safety option and possible replacements on the edge for Cam, Foskey. I wanted depth and versatility on the OL, and a space eater for the 3-4 scheme. More playmakers on offense as well.

1.Malaki Starks, S

Perhaps the safest pick in the draft. Instinctual, ball hawking safety for Staley to play with.

2.Landon Jackson, ED

Prototypical edge, has size and athleticism to become a force. Needs refinement but can jump into the relation day 1

3. Cameron Williams, OT

Huge OT from UT, moves very well. Only started 16 games at UT. I think he could return 1st rd value in due time. Provides depth day one. Played RT at Texas

3. Kaimon Rucker, ED

Another edge, fits well in the 3-4. A bit undersized

4. Jamaree Caldwell, NT

Came in at 6’2” 332 at the combine. Played heavier at Oregon and Senior Bowl. Played RB at one point in high school. Moves very well for a big man, can do a lot in the middle. Pull up his tape

5. Tory Horton, WR

6’2” 196, 4.42 40 guy. 9.79 RAS. Twitched up, can play inside and out. Was hurt some in ‘24, seems to have him down on some boards. Nice with the ball in his hands, more speed on offense. KM’s Devonta Smith, perhaps

6. Bhayshul Tuten, RB

Versatile speed back from VT. 5’9”, 206. Think Devon Achane but 20 lbs heavier. 18% explosive run rate, same as Cam Skattebo. Forced missed tackle demon. The huge red flag on him is fumbles. That’s why we are getting him here.

7. Joshua Gray, G

Former teammate of Fuaga. Team captain, started at Tackle, switched to guard, and was asked to work at center at the combine. Another RAS guy. Would be a steal to get a versatile guy like this late.

8. Tommi Hill, CB

Travis Hunter said he was his toughest matchup. Dane Brugler had a day 2 grade on him at one point. Big corner at 6’ 213. ST guy day 1

Out of curiosity, as it really means nothing in the end, who were some of the other prospects available at 9?

When I looked at it recently, I was seeing where they had McMillan, Campbell, Barron, Starks all available. Top 8 were:
Ward, Carter, Hunter, Jeanty, Graham, Membou*, Campbell (Bama LBer), Warren

Someone in another thread made a prediction he'd be the top OT off the board, I believe pre-combine he was the 4th OT (still 1st round) in a lot of mocks.

I went with McMillan @ 9, Nolen @ 40, Mason Taylor @ 71, and Lathan Ransom @ 93 (only because a secondary player from OSU )

His combine performance has lent him some helium it appears. Like I sad though, he has a huge fumbling issue. Highest fumble % in the draft from what I can find.

1.49 10-yd split tied WR Matthew Golden (fastest player at the combine)

I like the forward-thinking long-term selection with Starks.

One of the best, if not the best safety prospects to come out in a while.

In the meantime, you build strength on strength back there and he can learn from two veterans with plenty of experience and knowledge that they can provide to him.

Like the Caldwell and Tuten picks as well.

I shouldve screen shotted the board. All of those guys were in play except Campbell, who I wouldve taken if he were there. Warren was gone off my board too.

It would make sense. We will go BPA but in reality, every position is really a need, so we will be satisfying both trains of thought

After what Starks ran at his pro day (4.8), there’s no way I would draft him in top ten. Second round would be earliest. I know he’s instinctual and that speeds up his play, but we are talking about covering elite athletes in space. Athletic limitations will prevent him from ever being a top safety.

Brian Branch 4.58
Jessie Bates 4.5
Xavier McKinney 4.63
Earl Thomas 4.49

All similar RAS scores.
Don’t have to be a blazer.

I really like Horton as a mid-round steal. Feel like he was forgotten a little due to the injury, but he put up big numbers in '22 and '23 for Colorado St. Likely will never be a WR1, but lots of potential to a productive WR in the league.

Yep. He’s a chain mover as well, 7th in the nation in first downs in 2023. Can return punts. Hit a top speed of 23.1 mph, tops for FBS WR.
