What is the point or ultimate goal of changing the name to Gulf of America?

Is it just national pride, or some further goal like bypassing anti-drilling laws/regs regarding the "Gulf of Mexico?"

I'm fine with it, but having the map with it in big bold letters next to the Resolute Desk for weeks (is it still there?) was unnecessary.

A) posturing for a strong resurgent US
B) possible legal considerations regarding legislation and drilling
C) Trump is doing classic Trump stuff with regard to trade and cartel related negotiations with Mexico

The issue is the name is not “changed” for the rest of the world, just american media and companies. Do we honestly think the rest of the world will follow suit?
