I want to know is the man in black really that evil? It just seems that all he wanted to do was leave the island and being trapped drove him crazy.

I mean, he is trying to kill everyone on the island. It's fair to say he was mistreated by his brother and "mother" but doesn't change the fact he's trying to kill everyone. Jacob believes in the inherent goodness of people and MiB believes in the inherent badness of people. They are both very flawed individuals tho.

do you consider killing people evil?

yeah there was lots of polarity in LOST between good/evil, science/faith, light/dark, etc.

Yes Jacob's candidates. The man in black didn't mind if some of them decided to go with him just as long as they weren't a candidate.

Some of the main characters that were candidates have killed people. None of them are innocent.

There is no “man in black.” MIB is just one of the manifestations of the darkness that is the “smoke monster”: Jack’s dad on the island, Eko’s brother, Alpert’s wife, John Locke. It takes on the form of those who have died as a means to trick people into doing what it wants. The “monster” is evil. It is darkness. It is negativity. It is self-cherishing. It is depravity. It is degeneracy. It is anti-spirituality. To let it leave would mean it would spread its influence all over the world. Everyone would end up like Claire.

I poured so many hours into those early day YouTube podcast-like videos and internet theory and predictions and in particular this message board over all those years and seasons. It was fun. It was enjoyable.

But in the end… wow what a waste of time and countless hours now knowing how it all ended.

I didn't like the flashbacks, it caused me to sleep through 4-5 episodes. They had enough flashbacks to create a spinoff series. It was like watching days of our lives.

Seasons 1-3 was top notch. Seasons 4-5 felt rushed and all over the place.

Damnit what I would give for that tease of the smoke monster to be some actual supernatural physical monster like a damn dinosaur or something.

Smoke monster was so lame once it was revealed

So the darkness was using Jacob's brother?

I think it was an incarnation of evil moreso. More of a yin and yang.

How did you feel about the series/ending? It’s my favorite ever and while the ending isn’t perfect, I liked it. My wife did not.

Just interested in some new blood’s opinion 15 years later.

I liked the ending but had to watch YouTube videos because it was confusing.

The ending was awesome.

Study a little Buddhism. It’ll help you understand the show on a completely different level.

The flashbacks were literally one of the best things about that series.

I have probably watched the entire thing 10 times. If the final flashbacks didnt get you , then you just didnt connect with the series

The flashbacks were boring and I slept through some episodes. Some of my relatives stopped watching because of it. I don't mind some but they abused it. I have never seen anything like it in a show before. I have seen it once and probably never watch it again.

There were flashbacks inside of flashbacks inside of time jumps. It got ridiculous

The writers made the show more complicated to understand than it should have been.

There is a reason why you should always stay away from anything David Lindlehoff ever writes or creates.
