This is sort of an unofficial fifth major. I never really understood the hype until I went there. It is a cut above the other 1000 series tournaments.
Men's Draw.

Carrot top the doper is out for a few months. Zverev is the number one seed on the men's side. If any of you baws on the west coast get a chance to make it out there, please post in here.

Great field. Excited to see if Kyrgios 8 match losing streak continues!

I doubt he is in good shape to grind out a tough match. Maybe he can win a couple of sets in tiebreaks.

Men are mostly just getting underway. Rolling with Griekspoor +100 against Kecmanovic.

Kyrgios's wrist only made it through a set. He'll be back in the booth before long.

Came back from a double break down and loses the TB.

I know you're a vet on the site and use it for other sports/topics, but I'm done here personally, and would suggest other tennis posters do the same. All these rules regarding tennis threads are nonsense when we haven't had any issues for years. Last week I debated starting 8 different threads, one for each tourney including Challengers, but didn't care enough to make the point.

Iva Jovic - the 17 year old US phenom who had a nice showing at the 2024 US Open - won her first round match and then lost in a tough 3rd setter yesterday to the little Italian - just one week after losing to LSUs #2 Kayla Cross in a ITF w35 Final.

Had a friend there last week she got a crappy schedule that day. It was beginning of the week. That place is so nice. The scenery is insane. These matches are getting good.

Attending tennis tournaments is such a roll of the dice. You have to go in with the mindset of just trying to enjoy the trip, and if you get to see any quality tennis, that's a plus.

I thought the monthly threads were a good idea outside of the majors as a roundup for events, as well as news and notes. In a week with two 500s and a 250, I felt weird about starting individual tournament threads.

I didn't realize until today Nole lost. Time to say he's washed?

I was really looking forward to Medvedev/Michelsen. Michelsen retired after two games.

Griekspoor and Arnaldi are low key nasty.

Giron is playing some really good ball.

Humbert/Rune, your life is on the line in the third set, how do you bet it?

Swiatek and Andreeva are going to a third set. Keys and Sabalenka is next.

Men's semis tomorrow are Rune/Medvedev and Draper/Alcaraz.
