Game Thread: Columbus Blue Jackets vs Detroit Red Wings | The Horseshoe | 6pm, ESPN

Both teams are tied for the two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference. Also only a few points back in the Metropolitan Division.
Columbus won in Detroit 5-2 on Thursday night. This should be a more physical game, perhaps a fight just to entertain the crowd, Four Nations style.
Should be fun! Blue Jackets fans have been begging for an outdoor game for years, and here we are.

I wonder why the game starts so early this year? And was shuffled over to ESPN? I liked the 7:00 ABC game last year.

Wings picked up two major injuries last weekend to Rasmussen and Copp that didn’t seem to hurt them against the Wild on Tuesday, but was glaringly obvious against this team Thursday. I really think Detroit needs to be buyers at the trade deadline and bring in a solid 2C to make this playoff run.

I remember saying a few years ago in the NHL thread the Blue Jackets should get a Winter Classic at Ohio St stadium. And someone said Ohio St didn't want to host the game. While not a Winter Classic, it's about time the Blue Jackets get a marquee event. And the cannon uniform rocks. Too bad the Red Wings got stuck with such a terrible uniform.

Ohio State has always had a contentious relationship with tCBJ going back to when the city decided to build an arena downtown and Ohio State was doing the same on campus.
I think they have collaborating over the recent years, and we finally got this one.
I also think the NHL was skeptical that we could fill the Shoe. Obviously that was answered tonight.
