Anyone ever done this? Looking for different activities to do with my son and curious if anyone has any stories or advice on extra gear. Cheers!

A lot of fun with a kid. Buy good rope and magnet. Hang near bridges where ppl would throw things over the side like guns etc

I think it would be a blast! Never done it, though.

Tried to once for a friends prop so it wasn’t really for fun and found nothing lol.

I would try to get ahold of a rare earth magnet. You’ll need a box to keep it in. Don’t hold it close to metal either.

I have a place on a lake. My nephew got one and wasn't getting much off the side of the pier, so I got a bunch of railroad spikes and other crap to throw off the side. I give him a dollar every time he finds one. Keeps him busy.

You need to mess with him and throw some crazy stuff in there. Get a Halloween skeleton and attach a chain to it

Used to work on pump stations for parish government. Would bring a strong magnet in case we dropped tools in water, sometimes when I had dropped a wrench I would find mine and one someone had dropped before. Never found murder weapon.

Magnet fishing videos make it look like fun.

Maybe try geocaching?

I've done it. Don't expect anything, so you will not be disappointed. At best, you will find a set of pliers. You will likely find nails, some chain, and a lot of rust pellets.
