25.1 drops this Thursday. Any guesses as to what movements will be included?

Didn’t everybody quit?
Everything I see makes it seem like for such a big company, CrossFit is run like a fly by night operation

First time in 12 years I won’t be participating. I just don’t feel like it. I may do a workout or two.

local box here in Austin makes it a fun four week event (teams, events/games on Fridays and Saturday, we get to make up the fourth weeks workout) so I’ll be participating just because it’s a fun community thing, the workout is just another workout
I didn’t realize until I went on Reddit everyone is all angry about the open

I’m in the same boat. I paid my $20, but more just to see where I’m at with everyone at my gym. The workout is just another workout as you said, but with a little more excitement around it. We all get together Friday evenings and it’s just a fun workout.
I have no idea what the outside world or Reddit thinks of the open this year.

Not looking forward to doing this one at all. Edit: I thought the walking lunges were with the dumbbells, so at least that’s not as bad. I also thought the clean and jerks were with two dumbbells
25.1:
15 minute AMRAP
Burpee over dumbbell - ascending by 3 each round
Dumbbell hang power clean to overhead (50/35) - ascending by 3 each round
30ft walking lunges

Basically a lung burner
They should have made it walking OH lunges with the DB.

Did it Rx last night. Got into the round of 21 reps. The burpees over the dumbbell got sucky starting on about the round of 15 reps.
Ended with a 21+13....172. Might do it one more time this weekend when I'm more rested and not waking up at 0315 every morning and working all day.
Or, I might just say frick it and just live with my score

Re-did the workout because I'm a sicko. 180 this time. These Open workouts suck.

I’ve been seriously debating retesting since Friday. I did ok…188. I think I can do slightly better but is it worth 4-5 extra reps to go through that shite again?

Dude. I don't know what to tell you. I'd probably say no, because frick burpees.
Only reason I re-did it is because I was dog tired when I first did it and was working long hours.
This is only my 2nd Open, so I'm trying to track my progress as I get better.

Did 142 reps. Wanted more but not too bad. This is my first Open since I started last April.

168 for me. Im in the same boat as you regarding being dog tired. My youngest never sleeps so I was up all night Wednesday and Thursday running on about 3-4 hours of sleep. I am confident I could make it somewhere in the round of 24s but Im not willing to do that workout again lol. Thats a "How deep are you willing to dive into the pain cave" type workout.
Good job everybody!

I’m only 3 months into CrossFit but gave it a go with RX and reached 128…was a fun time at the gym
nice scores in here! hope we do that workout again in class in a few months to track progress

Awesome work! The open can be daunting if it’s your first few months, but just remember it’s just another workout and it’s all for fun!

I ultimately decided not to retest. My original goal was to at least complete the round of 21 and I did that, so retesting seemed unnecessary. Not like I’m trying to qualify or anything.

Buddy sent me his score card on my way home from from work yesterday evening and he had beat me by 1 rep so I obviously had to retest. ended up with 19 more reps for 187. Glad I done it again.

I enjoyed the open when I was doing CrossFit. Was a fun night/morning to get together and see how each other did. I was curious on the number of participants for this year because it has seemed to been on the decline. 40% less people competing in the open compared to last year.
Is it just less desirable form of exercise? Or is it more of a boycott for how they handled the athlete’s death during the games?

That style of training is by far the best bang for your buck in my opinion, and I don’t think it’s close. However CrossFit the company seems to be one of the worst run “big” companies I’ve ever seen. It’s got millions of users worldwide and it’s like it’s run by dumbasses out of a garage. There’s zero continuity in the business model, and while they do provide marketing via a name brand, I think they really provide nothing else to gym owners.
My personal opinion is the number of people employing the methodology hasn’t changed, but less gyms and people are participating in the formal parts
