With the reports coming out of LSU being at not just the bottom end, but almost dead last in NIL support for basketball.. does that change your perception of McMahon?

Sure he showed a major step in the right direction from year one to two. And left lots of fans with optimism (including myself) at the end of year two. I don’t think he’s a bad coach, but I do look around the league obviously and we are like a Livingston parish JV team compared to others.

I don’t think it’s fair, nor right to castrate the basketball teams NIL funding or allotment, then pile on a coach for not competing with the proper tools given to him.

This is not in anyway a defend McMahon post. Just honest thoughts whether it’s a coach problem, or an AD problem for not leveling the playing field with NIL.

There was a reason Nick Saban always wanted the best players

Multiple coaches have started in the SEC the same season or later and have much more success than 13-35 SEC record and hanging a hat on an NIT game getting blown out by North Texas in the PMAC in front of 2000 fans.

We just beat a OU team that is 3-8 in the SEC and dudes want to hang banners.

The program is in a terrible state, the coach is not SEC caliber. People can pretend as much as they want.

I am not surprised our donors aren’t enthused with matt McMahon. When he arrived we were worried the school was going to get the axe from the ncaa.

But once we got the ruling and were in the clear it is up to McMahon to sell the base on buying in, and watching a McMahon coached team makes you want to kill yourself.

IMO major NIL money comes with encouraging results and he’s done nothing to warrant more money. We have signed two top 15 classes since he arrived and we still lose most of our games by double digits.

Well a program wouldn’t even get remotely close to hiring a nick Saban without knowing they had NIL support. See Calipari last year.

No. If he's not getting his arse out and selling his program to boosters that's 100% on him. McMahon sure knew how to negotiate as many years of money for himself as a he could out of dumbass Woodward, maybe get some monetary guarantees for your program while you're at it instead of waiting until your 4th offseason.

He is not the guy. When the team is not any better next year they may realize it.

Its a full circle dilemma. McMann is a dork. Woodward wants to save all his pennies for BK and the football program. And now baseball has started so who really gives a shite about basketball

It doesn’t change my opinion. It doesn’t take a whole lot to see when coaches are able to get the most out of their players, and McMahon hasn’t done that. Not to mention from a recruiting standpoint we’ve done pretty well as far as rankings go.

I just don’t see this solving this program’s problems right now. Sure we should be better with more NIL emphasis, but just “better” is not going to be good enough when we’re 2-10 in the SEC. We need to see a major jump and I don’t see that happening. Hope I’m wrong

My basic problem with LSUMBB (47 year season ticket holder) is that the current team looks like they do not practice any fundamentals. My wife and I gave away all our tickets to the last 6 home games this year.

I have never been more "down" about LSUMBB and that includes under coaches Brady and Jones.

Look. He just needs about 3-4 cycles (not seasons) of players going through his system from freshman to senior year to get his system established then and only then can we start to think about building a program that could one day make the tournament. Give him time.
