LSU says it’s sticking with McMahon and increasing its NIL spend. Even though supposedly there’s no such thing as pay for play and schools can’t be directly involved in NIL.

I’ve got no issues with LSU’s decision but this pretending there’s a wall between the school and NIL spend is so stupid. The whole system is a farce.

The media is saying that.

It's been fed to them to gauge reaction.

Easily, the bottom feeders are swallowing it whole.

Have you ever heard of this thing called “revenue sharing”?

& Brian Kelly just raised $2M for NIL through the Bayou Traditions collective

Got no issues with that but again, the rule of thumb is no “pay for play” and the payor of NIL dollars has to get something in return. A commercial. A social media post. Something. What is a collective getting in return other than an athlete?

Not saying any of this is wrong but pretending schools aren’t doing pay for play because of semantics gymnastics is just so so stupid.

So essentially every SEC is going to get the same influx of money at the same % (assuming the House settlement is approved as proposed…and withstand the immediate legal challenges). Where does LSU’s “increased NIL” funds for basketball come from? Is there a rash of donors that weren’t active before who are suddenly ready to activate? Did Elon Musk find taxpayer funds that were earmarked for MBB but were siphoned off elsewhere?

You seem uninformed. That’s not what the NIL collective is, it practically is pay for play.

They don’t it’s a way to support LSU athletes just like TAF

Nobody is pretending that like I said you seem uninformed

Why is this the popular narrative? It can come from Bayou Traditions?

I thought the same thing.

Ummm…. Good luck raising more MBB “NIL money” with a program no one currently cares about in its current state.

You cant just snap your fingers and magically make more men’s basketball NIL money appear because you say you want it to.

If anything, I think this decision would make LSU men’s basketball NIL money donations would go down.

Do you know how much $ is in the Bayou Traditions NIL Collective? Do you know how much goes to each sport?

If I donate $100 right now, they can decide which sport they want that to go to.

I’m not sure why everyone acts like they can’t just decide to give more to MBB - it’s not “appearing” out of nowhere if it’s already there

You got that $100 from winning your fake bets?

Even worse IMO.

It’s one thing if they hit the road and drum up the dollars for basketball. So be it if that’s what they want to do. I hope it works and they put in the legwork to raise the money.

It’s even worse if they take from the existing NIL pie and give more to basketball, and take Away money from the other sports. Who in their right mind would prefer money to be taken away from say FBB or WBB or baseball to give to the basketball program right now? To each their own, but certainly not me.

It’s one thing if the program is generating some positive momentum and reason for hope… but in its current state I absolutely don’t want existing money transferred from one sport to men’s basketball.

You don’t get the joke which isn’t surprising. Carry on with your make believe retardation.

They’re definitely not taking it away from football although it helps that BK just raised $2M on his own. Obviously many here agree that it makes more financial sense to invest in men’s basketball over baseball & WBB
