Supplements If so what brands do you recommend.

I just started taking one about a week ago. Pure Parapro(?). Nothing really to report yet other than my pee doesn’t look like antifreeze as with my old vitamin so maybe it’s absorbing better? Dunno.

I take methylfolate .. I’ve got the mthfr gene and it’s a b vitamin.
I’ve used Methyl Pro as well as Enlyte brands.

How is it working for you , and is there a brand that you use or recommend. I also have the same gene disorder and always have had the Dr prescribe something for it but it’s getting more and more expensive so anything over the counter would be great .

Well Enlyte D is from a company in maybe Covington? I was out and a new practitioner that started seeing had Methyl Pro in her office — same price as Amazon. The new one tastes like total arse but it’s what I have at the moment.
Methyl Pro, enlyte, Thorne are all good brands — they’re all a little different. Some have vit D, some have other vitamins. These are all available without a prescription.
Is it working? I guess. My homocysteine levels are definitely reduced .. do I feel better in mental and physical ways? Yes but I also started HRT and had thyroid meds adjusted.

They recently switched me to a different brand , Wes Tab Max , but it’s also because it’s a new Dr. as my old Dr retired . I take it because obviously I need to and I know it works , was just wondering what other options there was especially if it was otc.

How much is it?
Oh and Pure is another good brand.

100 a month ….. I found out I had the gene about 10 years ago , after my cousin suddenly died of a heart attack . Found out like 10 people in our family have it , along with me and my sister . When i was going to my original Dr it was like 5 bucks for whatever they prescribed and just continued taking it until i had to switch Dr and was prescribed the new medication… the only difference is the price so im glad to know there are other options out there … I honestly never really looked or researched for anything otc because i was just so used to filling my script and going about my day .

I'm taking a methyl-guard complex from Thorne.

:lol. And when you type mthfr gene, well it looks like abbreviation for another word lol.

Oh I’d switch. Mines $45? I’ll see which one I have when I get home exactly and report back.

So mine is methyl pro multivitamin + l methyl folate +15mg per the label.
On Amazon it’s $60 for 30 but I swear I paid $45 at my practitioners office.
I’ll be finding a different one as well. Or trying to.

Yeah I evidently took that as well back in 2018 as my Amazon history is showing that I did.
Also it’s 120 capsules for $43.
The mvi in mine is nice but it’s getting pricey.

What practitioner do you see? And does she treat thyroid?
Posted on 2/19/25 at 10:22 am to Whodattigah
I see 2 NPs in the Lafayette area. One is a cardiac prevention area (APEX prevention) and the other is handling my thyroid and hormones (female and in full menopause). This one has a background in endocrinology but now works in a plastic surgeons office.
Full disclosure she also does weight loss injections — I did not go there for that. She does have plenty of patients for hormones/thyroid only. I’ll say i feel so much better since hrt started.
