So does LSU gymnastics take the #1 ranking next week?

Or do pollsters overscore Oklahoma there too?

Shared AP and BCS title between both of us

I don't even know how gymnastics rankings work. I guess I always assumed it was on average score

Its formulaic by average scores with certain factors not just head to head.

It's going to be pretty close. I haven't and probably won't do the math to figure out.

There are no polls in gymnastics. For a short and extremely basic explanation, it’s based on averaging scores.

East German judge says no.

Good question, are the rankings subjective for Gymnastics or do they just rank by an average of the points compiled thus far during the season?
But then even that turns out is subjective because the points for each meet are ultimately subjectively awarded by judges.
For you folks who follow this closely, how much of an advantage is home advantage in gymnastics? For example, if both teams did the exact same routines the exact same way from last night but the meet was in Oklahoma, do you think we still win?

There is a preseason poll, but it changes to ranking by scores after the first meet.

I think we still win, if the exact same mistakes are made. Some say a home meet is worth .3 to the home team, and we won by more than that.

Sounds reasonable, I always wondered how much the subjective nature of the sport effects outcomes, of course one could argue even that is subjective!

Just keep stacking 198’s or higher and it will work out.

Absolutely! When you knock off the best…that makes you the best
nice win ladies!!

Not only did we not take over #1 but we dropped to #3. Which is insane when you beat the #1 team and score the second highest meet score of the season.
The switch from average to NQS happens after this week and we are still counting the Arkansas low score. UCLA isn’t counting a low score, so they have moved to #2, despite their average being lower than ours.
Should all be fixed if we perform next week at UK.

The issue is our Arkansas 196 score, if they have a solid performance at Kentucky they will drop that and our NQS will soar back up and we will be back at the 2 spot

And it doesn’t matter if we are or aren’t.

Which still is unbelievable to me. We went into the last rotation down .125, and Oklahoma just imploded.
