The media says inflation is going to be bad, so you run with it?

The US manufacturers pricing will stabilize or decrease.
The imports form the countries that tariff the hell out of the USA will increase.
This is great for Ford and GM since they will either be able to import tariff free to countries they currently cannot or be able to be more competitive against the imports that come in for zero now.

Someone hasn’t checked car prizes lately. It’s ridiculous to say the least.

I paid cash for a 22' corolla last year. I should be good for a while.

More competition: lower prices

This will encourage foreign auto companies to ramp up production at their US based factories. This is good for our economy since those auto plants support many Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers across the local economy.

I've been assured by folks on this board that they will proudly pay more or things if its produced by a protected, non innovative American company

It's more about having common sense and knowing the basics of economics.
If you put a 25% tariffs on imported steel and aluminum (important for cars), then domestic steel manufacturers can raise their own prices by 20% and still undercut the competition.
That still means prices go up though.

If the media days it's had do the opposite of those tyrants

With enough subsidies, sure.

Yeah because obama brought prices down

Wrong. What happens is manufacturers bring their operations into the US? There are no tariffs. Additionally, what liberals simply refuse to understand is that Trump doesn't really want to use tariffs. He likes the threat of them to equalize the playing field.
What is going to happen is that all of these so-called allies of ours are going to bend the knee and capitulate. The only one that may not is China, but placing tariffs on our number one enemy is a wise move strategically, regardless of inflation. It will damage their economy much worse than ours, and that is a win for us... and that is exactly why the China virus was released. Trump was destroying them.
