The Last Duel; despite it's flaws, it is a good history piece

Matt Damon is out of place, but the character is the guy we all have met, honor above all despite it providing no benefit to himself.

Adam Driver and Jodie Comer carry the movie. Incredible job by both.

I found myself hating Jacques Le Gris but also he was a huge defender of Jean de Carrouges virtues and I think in the end he did not believe what he had did was wrong because he had a distorted sense of what he had done.

Affleck's character wouldve been much better if they had cast this guy

Affleck's performance in this movie was jarring, and not in a good way.

I never read the book. I liked the way they tried to show that the same event transpired three different ways with three different people. I felt they could have done a little better job with that part.

I also felt like Damon and Affleck were out of place. Driver and Comer carried the movie. It seemed like most of the movie was from their perspectives.

It got me inspired to read Barbara Tuchman’s epic history of the 14th century and the 100 years war. Pretty rough era to say the least.

I really liked it. Which is why I was kinda surprised that Napoleon & Gladiator 2 were so bad. How did Ridley Scott lose it that badly right after making The Last Duel?

Casting the boys from Southie in a medieval period piece was a mind boggling decision

Matt Damon trying to talk old timey French but in American English was distracting.

It was terrible. Scott makes excuses if you didn’t like it it’s because you’re not intellectual.

Gladiator 2 stunk too. Ridley just sucks now.

I watched last duel with zero expectations and really enjoyed it.

Ridley has sucked since 1980, every once in a while releasing something good. Gladiator was good. Matchstick Men was okay. I actually really like The Last Duel, and I think it has some of his best and gnarliest direction of violence in the titular Duel.

I'd say he's working at a 5:1 garbage to quality ratio.

It’s a horrible movie and insulting to the audience in its bad story telling and an insult to the true story which was way more dramatic. The only good thing was the duel.

Medieval vantage point

I liked the actual duel

But the rape In 3 different variations was too much for me

Won’t watch again

The dual alone is worth everything else.
