Murder mystery series on Amazon Prime which was originally aired on PBS apparently.
Set in 1960s Oxford, England about an Oxford graduate joining the detective force. He's attempting to solve murders while navigating authority as a newbie detective but yet obviously the smartest person in the room.
Good main characters and stories but can be a bit slow at times. Wife and I are really enjoying Endeavor. Kind of an elevated Midsommer Murders and Dr. Blake Mysteries.
Season 3 stories went really dark which give the series some evolution as opposed to a Midsommer or Dr. Blake.

Is that Maester Qyburn I see lurking in the background?

great series. It went for nine seasons.

Just finished watching the series. Really enjoyed it. It’s a prequel to the series Inspector Morse. Watched a few episodes of that but nowhere near the quality of story telling and character development as Endeavour.

We finished season 6 this weekend and the ending was really good with tying up some lingering story lines. In the OP I stated season 3 went kind of dark but it was actually seasons 5 and 6. I didn't realize how short the seasons were.

I think this is one of the best television series ever.

Watched it and loved it. After I finished it I came to find out that one of my best friends' music ministers at his church who I have met several times has some music featured in it. The montage in Season 6 Episode 4 1 Hour 17 Minutes is him. Then there are some songs that plays on juke boxes as well that are him. It is kind of crazy. The guy is extremely talented but does music part-time at a small church and runs a farm in South Arkansas. It is crazy that he has connections that got him recorded for a British TV show. I know, cool story bro.

Finished the series last night. I don't know about the best ever but is probably one of the most underrated series in the last 10 or 20 years.
In any case really enjoyed it and its flaws didn't get in the way of the story lines.
