I saw this really inspiring video of a dad who picked up and moved his whole family to Louisiana for his son's dream to play football for LSU. The Dad is Mike Pompa and his son Jake Pompa. The son plays football for Covington and is a runningback

I'm at work and can't get the video going. Is the kid a senior this year? Decent player?

Good luck to Jake! Without seeing his video or knowing his stats, I hope they recruit him and he finds a spot on the team. After following recruiting for many many years. I can tell you that on average less than half the recruits on any given year actually contribute and now many leave even if they are starters. He could develope into a starter one day.

Love that story. While typing this, iam waiting for my daughter to get back with our first crawfish of the year.
I was born outside of Chicago because of the job my dad had at the time. All my other family are from the South. He moved us to Louisiana when I was six. But we had no one in my family that followed LSU.
When I was around eight my Saturday cartoons just ended, and LSU played a early day game and just started to watch it. This was in the early 70's so you didn't have a lot of games on. This was before cable.
For some reason I just got hooked on LSU. Always got the sport section from my dad's newspaper and looked for any news of the tigers. I got my dad to become a fan before he died and even took him to some games in death valley. My mom became a bigger fan then him. Dad died one month before Joe burrow played his first game. Was a tough year for mom but watching Joe play and winning the natty gave us a way of escaping his death.
Funny thing is Dad was born just outside of Knoxville and Mom was born in Tuscaloosa. But both became true tigers.

Des plains, about forty miles away. Mom would tell me how the went to the first McDonald's there. I don't remember much but do remember having eight feet of snow at our house. And getting our sleds for some fun times. Mom would wrap me up like that kid in Christmas story.

Looked on dandy dons top prospects. Only one Covington player in the top 200 and pretty sure it's not him. He can walk on and earn a scholarship. Best of luck to the young man.

Cool story. I hope his kid is good enough to make the team. It's a very high bar.

Could you see him being a Josh Williams type player at LSU?
