Red dot reflex shotgun sight for turkey

I’ve never turkey hunted with a red dot, but am setting up a 870 to be a turkey gun and wanted some suggestions on red dots.

I’d look at the Holosun red dots with the circle and the dot. Bigger circle is easier to pick up and would kind of mimic the pellet spread.

I have a bunch of them. Can’t tell much difference just make sure they have good battery life

I use a Burris fast fire IV on my 500 and no complaints. It seems to work when I use it and hold zero which is about all you really need it to do. I had gift cards burning a hole in my pocket so I don’t necessarily regret getting it, but can’t really say the red dot offers a ton over a fiber sight once you’ve patterned and know where your gun is hitting.

I have the Vortex Sparc solar on mine. Zero complaints and it last forever.

I have a Burris ff3, Vortex viper, and Holosun. They are all about the same but I like the Holosun the best with the shake awake option.
I actually have a Burris ff3 I'm gonna get rid of if you're interested.

Another vote for Holosun. Just set up a single shot .410 with one for turkey season.

Holosun 507 comp works great on my A400.

In the process of converting an old 870 to a turkey gun, I went with the Burris FF3.
Any recommendations for a thumbhole stock for an 870?

This is what I did, bought a cheap 870 with shorter barrel to keep from having to pack around my Benelli with a 28” barrel and 2” of choke sticking out.
Just get overwhelmed researching which red dot to go with because of so many options!

I possibly would be, I’m going to do a little research.

I have a vortex venom on my turkey setup and have been pleased.

I recommend going to your local gun shop and checking out a few before buying.

Another option is buying a turkey barrel for the 870 which has sights built in. It won’t be as user friendly as a red dot, but as long as you keep your head down you’re not going to have any problems.
I have holosun 507k, 407k, vortex viper, venom, and razor. The only thing I don’t like about the holosun is the warranty, although I haven’t had to use it. I really don’t have an issue with any of them though, and you’re probably not going to regret whatever you end up with. Also, if cost is a big factor, you can get a vortex viper from optics planet for $110.
ETA: If you choose Holosun, my recommendation would be to just get the 407k. I prefer just having a dot with no ring blocking any of the sight picture, so it makes sense to save some money and just get the 407.

This. The 870 supermag turkey setup comes out of the box ready to go. The sights on it are fine, you will kill turkeys

I’m about to pull the trigger on the mossburg 20 gauge with the hiloson red dot combo. Seems to be best price point rather than buying each separate.
