Is Marvin Harrison a thug?

Sorry if Germans...
Just read this story in ESPN the Magazine. I'm not a big Harrison or Colts fan...I actually could care less.
But this article kinda makes a lot of implications and borders on a hatchet job, IMO. If he shot that guy, which he very well may have, let the evidence speak...but this writer fills in a lot of empty space in the scenario with some negative images of Harrison.

I know two people that are former team mates of his. They both said (on separate times) that Harrison is so quiet it is spooky. They both said that he is so focused and one track minded that he almost seems autistic or an idiot savant like the rain man. He had a rep around the locker room for being "dumb" but most people figured out he wasn't dumb, just weird.

He definitely seems like a different cat, so I can believe that, Supa.
My biggest problem with this article is that it's very "message board-ish." It's told from a singular angle like stories related on a message board or blog. Poor journalism, I think.

Every article ever written about him in Indy mirrors what supa said.
It almost appears he doesn't have ANY friends. In one article, he said he spends most of his time with his mom. Weird.

Marvin Harrisson is a nerd
the mere thought of someone implying he might be thuggish is

its all relative. him shooting at that guy, well that guy was an ex con. so did he really do something wrong. the ball boy thing was fricked up though, same with the fans in hawaii. him growing up in that neighborhood fricked him up.

Man, that is fricking weird. So it turns out he is just a ghetto thug?

how does this seem like a hatchet job to you? Seems more like a biography. I don't see any blanks being filled in by anyone who wasn't shot or choked by Harrison.

listen, i'm not knighting the guy...again i could care less.
but it seems like the writer was intent on painting harrison in the most negative way possible, short of actually saying "he did it." he very well may have. but the writer went out of his way to cite examples of how harrison may possess the chararacter traits of a thug and killer without much evidence to the contrary.
what's missing from the story is any balance in terms of the good that harrison may do. if there is none, show it. say "i tried to find some redeeming qualities about the guy or somebody reputable who could vouch for him, but i found nothing." that would sit better with me than the "look at what a prick weirdo this guy is...of course he did it" attitude the story intentionally tells.
this is the kind of story you write AFTER a guy is arrested for or convicted of a crime, not before. it just reeks of sensationalism and not true journalism. it's one of those "look at what an edgy and controversial writer i am" pieces. it set out to prove a singular point and did not seem to take into account any other possibilities.
just my 2 cents.
of course he does seem like a prick weirdo psycho loner so he probably did shoot that ex con.

The evidence did speak. His weapon matched ballistically to the shell casings found at the scene. The bystander shot said that he saw Harrison with the weapon during the fight. Plus the other knucklehead also said he saw Harrison with the weapon in his hand. I am not sure why the DA would not charge him.
In Louisiana, there would have been enough probable cause to make an arrest.

he got in a fight with a guy fact
guy immediately gets shot fact
guy was shot with harrison's gun fact
Witnesses saw Harrison holding the gun during the fight.
I dont really see how there is any doubt on anything here. Talking about other instances in which Harrison acted thugishly, during an article about him shooting someone, I dont really think is out of line.
Does every article about a suspected attempted murderer need to list all of his charitable donations (supposing he has made any since he won't even donate to his community youth centers)?

So what about the actual facts in the case??
You know, about Harrison being in a fight, being seen with a gun, and that same gun being responsible for shooting someone.
I'm not sure what him going to your church has to do with any of that.

In Louisiana he would have needed an ak-assault rifle and a couple of grenades to make an arrest.

Marvin just believes that revenge is a dish best served cold. He is quiet, effective, ruthless and elusive as a hitman just as he is on the field. It's the boastful, loud, chest-thumping types who are all talk. Harrison doesn't talk. He acts.
