None of this is of Christ.
A belief in Christ as the only begotten Son of GOD and Redeemer of man can never be forced on anyone.
The Crusades were not about Christ but earthly power (papal and king).

No it can’t, but the Muslims want to force their Aloha Snackbar on you. Conquer or be conquered, the moment will arise when we have to make that choice

So defending pilgrims being raped and sacked while on their way to the holy land is not a Christian thing to do?

Correct. Muhammad offered die or join to those he conquered.
Christ offers love and peace. We need to stay away from needless wars. Let us prosper with peace. But if attacked we will fight and win!

Thus why I specifically stated while he has the Mandate of Heaven

That’s what you think they did?
Why Did the Fourth Crusade Sack a Christian City?
quote:
In 1202, the Fourth Crusade took an unexpected turn when it attacked the city of Zara. The Crusaders plundered the city, raping and pillaging the Christian inhabitants.
quote:
The diversion of the Fourth Crusade from the Holy Land to attack, capture, and pillage the Byzantine city of Constantinople in April 1204 divided and dissipated the efforts of the Christians to maintain the war against the Muslims. It is widely regarded as a shocking betrayal of principles out of greed.
Sack of Constantinople

St. Paul wrote this to the Christians in Rome to NOT take up arms against the PAGAN authorities on behalf of the Church…
Have you heard of St. George? St. Demetrios? St. Eustachios? The list goes on and on of Christians serving in the Roman army who did not bear the sword to spread the Gospel but instead were martyred when told to renounce their faith.
If you want to support a majority Christian nation in its fight, go join the Russian Army which is fighting a godless leviathan.

That's the 4th Crusade and it was more about Venice-byzantine and the Veincians using the Crusaders to settle their score with eastern Romans. Orgianlly they were set to invade egypt. The crusaders couldnt pay for the venician fleet and at the time the eastern romans and venicians had bad blood.
In 1st crusade, the Muslims attacked Pilgrams. The peace deals, after which weren't truly upheld until Salahudin was the Muslims would not attack Christian pilgrims on their way to the holy land.
Im eastern orthodox, bet you didn't know that.
Everything you said about the 4th crusade doesn't discount the fact the crusade began to A protect pilgrims B help liberate eastern Christians C push back the muslim advance into europe.
Explain to me more of what you judge me stupid of.

Where did I say or infer that?
quote:What parish do you attend? No Orthodox would ever defend any violence in the Name of Christ nor so glibly refer to the 4th Crusade as just “bad blood”.

If you’re Orthodox, ask your parish priest their opinion on your views.
Your understanding of the motives and accomplishment of the Crusades is not correct and you really should read up on the history.

And Christ took up not a sword but a cross as He laid down His life for His friends.

Should t we be more concerned with making America a majority Christian nation again?

That’s what you think they did?

OCA in texas. not saying more because of the internet. Are you Orthodox?? Where in general terms to avoid doxing do you attend.
quote:

I did. He told me the story about the Shah invading Eastern Empire. Confused, the shah questioned the commanders why are they fighting him, when Christ told them to turn the other cheek. The commanders responded that they are upholding Christ's commandment by loving each other, for this reason we are willing to lay down our lives for our friends/neighbors. Because you will invade and enslave us.
Which fulfills the scripture I posted that you downvoted: The greatest love is this- to lay down your life for your friends.
Now, if you are orthodox, ask your priest about this story.
If you are protestant, I fully suspect you to disregard what my priest told me because it isn't scripture.
I fully expect you to continue to attempt to educate me on this since that is what most protestants try to do. You told me I should learn history yet the history I gave is factual about the 4th crusade, and you can look it up.
Your version of Christianity so far based on our 2 posts is not in alignment with historical Christianity. Now, explain to me how A protecting pilgrams B liberating eastern Christians from Islam and C pushing muslims out of europe is NOT Christian.
