He became an actor but supposedly his history was a tournament fighter before that. Per the laws of Mortal Kombat he had to be one of the best fighters of his generation to get an invite to the tournament. So there’s that

But this isn't about JCVD the actor. It's about the character from Kickboxer. It's been a while since I've seen it, but at the very least he comes from quality DNA with his brother as a fighter. And then was trained well.
