Similar accident to K Lacy
For anyone thinking Lacy might play in the NFL one day.
He’s toast. This dude just got 15 years for causing a nearly identical accident. Main difference is this dude was on drugs and didn’t leave the scene.

On May 27, 2022, Stasny drove west on Highway 80 when his Toyota Tundra crossed the center line. This caused another driver to swerve near the guardrail of a bridge to avoid a head-on collision. That driver looked in his rearview mirror and saw Stasny’s Tundra hit Dowden’s truck behind him head-on. That vehicle caught on fire, killing Mr. Dowden.

Such an annoying nickname.

Vince Neal got away with this; cost him $3M so maybe KL can buy his way out. Not supporting this at all. Dude needs to put away for a couple of decades.

This is most likely why Lacy left the scene.

The key point is "on drugs". I'm not defending Lacy, but his vehicle made no contact. IOW, he didn't drive a damaged vehicle away from the scene.
Another point: If Lacy is given lenient treatment in the criminal proceedings, he will be in a better position, financially, to compensate victims.
There are a lot of moving pieces here - Lacy's age, likely not drug or alcohol related, etc., that could result in a lighter sentence.

Just so you know, this is a BIG difference. Vehicular homicide is much more punitive than negligent homicide.

Oooooh...I like that angle. Let him go play in the NFL, and not jail, but here's the caveat.
He's basically playing for the family. What he's making basically goes to them. He doesn't get to wear the fancy chains and live in a fancy house.
He plays and makes a ton of money and it's nearly all garnished. He has to live and dress modestly.
In return, he's not wearing chains on his legs and looking at cell bars every day

He got away with in 1984. Times have changed.

100% agree. Why else would he leave. He was either drinking or on something. If he stayed and was sober he would have gotten probation and would have a shot in the nfl. Not now.

Weed doesnt count as a drug per enlightened TD posters

Yeah I’ve seen several 20 year sentences for vehicular homicide

Correct.
Negligent homicide is 0-5, which in my opinion is way too low given the potential range of negligent acts.

What makes you believe drugs or alcohol were likely not involved? It looks like that is most likely the reason he bailed from the scene

Yeah, a lot of people think its fine to drive under the influence, but I can drive better drunk than I can high.
No one should be driving high.

Lacy will be playing Wide Receiver in prison in a not so comfortable way.

Him fricking up and causing a major wreck (while sober) is enough to make someone in his position panic and bounce out. I presume he thought he could leave without being detected.
Could it be for being intoxicated? Sure, but it doesn't have to be.

In the linked story, he was convicted of vehicular homicide which carries a 5 to 30 year sentence.
Lacy is charged with negligent homicide which carries a sentence up to 10 years (without a minimum).
So, legally speaking, if Lacy is convicted, the cases could have very different sentences. (Not saying that's necessarily fair, but that's what the law is.)

It was 10:00 in the morning. Were you ever 23 years old with a fast car?
(I'm not saying drugs/alcohol couldn't have been involved. I'm saying other factors are as likely.)

This happened at 10am on a random Tuesday. I have a hard time believing Lacy was drunk at that time.
