Replace transmission or buy new car?

What say you? How many more years do you think you can get on a new/replaced transmission?
New prices seem insane to me.

Swap in a used tranny.

That’s not that many miles depending on the year, make, and model.

How many years you been on this tranny?

sounds like it's a late model car based on few details you've given. I'd take the credit hit and take it back to the dealer and leave it. if you've got equity in it maybe that's different

I'd take it back to the dealer and stop making payments if it comes to that. Don't let protecting your credit score overwhelm your cash flow.

It's paid off. If it wasn't, why do you suggest that? Just curious.

Fix the transmission if it is paid off.
Trust me...I know...I have a 2016 Nissan Sentra and I just replaced my transmission for the 2nd time in 2 years. The transmission note is cheaper than a car note.
Plus...Honda's a good cars.

I’d do it. Hondas are good cars and cars are expensive. I think you get another 120k out of it easy if you aren’t driving it like a goober.
I’m honestly shocked you need a transmission.
Also have you priced rebuilding it? Transmission shops swing wide on reliability but I would guess you can get at least 80k out of a rebuilt from a decent shop
(Edit:decent doesn’t necessarily mean the most expensive. Read the reviews. Ask around. Might help to know your location.)
There’s some actual mechanics on here who know more than I do but that’s my opinion.

is the transmission totally bad where it won't drive? If it's just slipping i'd drive it if it's paid off

Should have got an Altima, my cvt lasted 123,000 miles.
Contact Honda, Nissan paid for half of my replacement cvt.

I am failing to see how this is good advice. The car is five years old so he can't owe much on it. Sell the damn thing and move on if you don't want to fix it. Even with a blown tranny, he could easily get a few grand for it.

Go to the dealership, ask them to contact the Service Representative for Honda , for that area. See if he will help with the cost of the Transmission.
It's worth a try, they did for my daughter's Pilot. I had to pay $100 to replace the entire front end.
