It’s not at all.
And nobody can blame them for taking the easier perceived path. Any team in the nfl would do the same exact thing if they had the choice.

Even Burrow himself said after the Steelers game that (paraphrasing) the Bengals were responsible themselves for being in a position where they were having to rely on help.
Let Reid try to explain to Chiefs fans why Mahomes suffered some freak season ending injury playing in a meaningless situation (for KC) because they wanted to be fair and provide Cincinnati an honest shot. That would go over real well.
KC did the correct thing and had the situations been reversed Cincinnati would have done the same.
