Why is everyone pretending Brian Kelly didnt save that program?
They were an absolute dumpster fire before he took over at ND.

Freeman hasn’t done anything more than BK did at Notre Dame. 4 team playoff vs 12 teams. If he wins a championship then people can talk. Media folks are still pissed that BK left blue blood Notre Dame for LSU.

What a loaded statement. How did Kelly "run" from the ND job? So would Freeman be "running" from the ND job if some other team paid him 2X in a 10 year contract?
I like Freeman but Klatt and the rest of the media are not doing him any favors by overselling him.

Freeman has the easiest path to the college playoff year in and year out….a Notre Dame schedule. ND will be perpetual playoff team, but can they actually win the whole thing? I doubt it. They would not have made a 4 team playoff this year. I suspect the luck of the Irish is about to run out.

He hasn't even done that yet, unless I'm missing something. BK took his team to the NC game. ND will have to win one more to get there.
For Klatt, it is just as much political (DEI) as much as his dislike of BK and probably LSU. They beat Indiana, and a Georgia team without their starting QB.

Kelly did that job for 10 years before moving on to competing with the best in the most difficult conference for a team with 3 national championships in the past 20 years...3 more than ND.
Also until ND wins it all Kelly has done just as well taking ND to the natty game.

Notre Dame has made the playoffs and championship game before. This is nothing new, or is it any unchartered territory, no matter how they try and spin it.
The schedule of Notre Dame has always leveled the playing field. Their big games this year were the first game of the year against A&M, Michigan, and Southern Cal....that's it. Then they got Indiana, and a Georgia team without their starting QB, and also some help by Georgia in the game.
I think they beat Penn State....two very similar teams, but Ohio State will roll them.

Freeman is a good coach but he is benefitting from where BK left the program plus some changes the board at ND made to make it easier to get certain types of players to be admitted to Notre Dame as a result of BK leaving.
Plus Joel Klatt is a clickbait troll.
