Mouth pieces…..

Obviously, players aren’t penalized for actually having the pieces in their mouth. But it looks as though they have to have them on the face mask.
Why would a player want their mouth piece flopping around their eyes, distracting them from doing their job.
Anderson had 2 flipping around!

And when did they decide knee pads are no longer necessary?

He was more concerned about which mouth piece to use than catching the ball

Ariz St also had a least one WR w/ two mouthpieces dangling, one pink & one green… so there must be some kind cplanayion or reason they want a choice- anybody know the difference between the two other than color?

And what’s the deal with purple jerseys?

It seems as often as not that players have mouthpieces flopping around from their facemasks that they (at best) don’t consistently use. I don’t get the point of having it if you’re not going to use it.

Most pads are now built into the girldle or shaved down to be minimal. I don’t get the players wearing pants exposing their knees, but it’s probably because they know any tackle not around the waist is a penalty. The double mouth piece is just a fashion statement. A lot of players now get custom mouth pieces so they can still communicate pre snap.

Knee pads are more of a hindrance to running full speed and not allowing you to reach your full stride. Because of the knee pad placement it’s less likely that it’ll provide any protection against any impact on the knee. And more knee injuries are sustained from cutting.

Some guys are using two, for whatever reason. They have the one attached to the facemask and one that they just put in their mouth that is not attached to the helmet.
