Anyone watch this on Apple? Just finished episode 1 and sort of mixed.

It's lightweight entertainment. VV does VV-patter and there's some nice scenery along the way.

It’s not bad. Vintage Vince Vaughn with his dialogue and banter. Goes off the rails a little with the VooDoo chick.
Like most series they could have cut at least 2 episodes worth of pointless shite.

The voodoo chick storyline could've been left out. The character felt forced and was irritating as hell.

Fun book, show was a fairly faithful adaptation
IIRC the voodoo lady in the book was more of a creepy geriatric and they made her younger with a tragic backstory for the show. I’m sure that was to avoid caricaturing a Caribbean lady and while it further theme of everybody be griftin, it slows things down a bit

Enjoyed it. Agree completely that the dragon queen storyline was pointless. I’m very familiar with Big Pine Key as we go a couple times a year so it was cool seeing it featured so prominently.

He’s still getting it. Also showed up in White Lotus this year.
