May depend on how long you want to spend in the park and what you want to do. Flagstaff is an option but that’s still a little drive. There is a town at the west entrance at the south rim, but I don’t remember how many hotels are there. There must be some AirBnB places around.

Just stayed at the Squire resort outside the village for three days, during Thanksgiving. Talked to the manager and he gave me 2for1 discount on rooms. Would recommend.

Well. There are multiple Grand Canyon parks, including one closer to Vegas than the "main" South Rim.
If you are going to the South Rim, you will want to bite the bullet and pay to stay in one of the hotels on the rim. Keep in mind you have to book these many months in advance. Like 10 months.

Williams, AZ is right off I-40 and is due south of the South Rim/Grand Canyon Village via Highway 64.

If you are just doing overnight, I think staying in Williams is kinda nuts.
Its almost an hour drive.
Stay in the actual Grand Canyon Park if you can and are planning in advance. If not (and I think that is a big mistake for only one night, trying to maximize time), then stay in Tusayan

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Flagstaff. Be sure to arrive early at the park as traffic starts backing up about mid morning

We stayed at Red Feather Lodge a few years ago on a one- nighter from Las Vegas; not fancy but nice enough and relatively reasonable.
