My apologies for posting it here, but I didn't know where to place it.
Price died this morning at 2:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge following a heart attack.

He was Broadmoor’s coach when we played them in ‘85.
Local legend.

Sad to hear this. He was a good coach for a long time. I loved having him as one of my coaches at LSU football camp as a kid.

Coach Price was a wonderful man, husband and father and coach for many. Was a decorated marine and national champion in the hammer throw. I was lucky enough to have him as my cross country and trackcoach for three years. Very important male influence for me who taught us how to deal with adversity And pain. Thank goodness, we had the chance to be with each other about six months ago

Damn. I used to ride my bike up there to school to lift with him and all the old heads. He was one of a kind. Will be missed.

We lost 2 games in my 3 years as a varsity football player and 1 of those games was in the 1989 AAA Quarterfinals to a Rusty Price coached Broadmoor team.

I'm sad to hear about this. I student taught and coached baseball at Broadmoor in spring of 1986. I learned a lot about how to conduct myself and treat others fairly as a coach from him.
Rusty, Carl Ward (Port Sulphur), and Paul Solis (Boothville-Venice) molded me into a very successful coach for 35 years and I can never thank them enough. That's why I spend my retirement helping our younger coaches learn and succeed.

He was their QB the year we beat them - our 1st in almost 15 years.
That dude was quick AND tough as nails.

Didn't Broadmoor win a state championship under him?

Price was a Marine who served in Vietnam. Fought at Khe Sahn, a real sausage-grinder. The US lost many men there. Price was shot, received the Purple Heart. A no-nonsense man. Gave his life to education.

Their championship came under Coach Jerry Epperson.

RIP and Semper Fi, Coach.
He and I were in the Corps at the same time and Khe Sanh area. Spoke with him a couple of times and compared notes after games that I was covering. Great guy.
