Remember, because Auburn blew Clemson out of the water in their '08 bowl, everyone was picking them to win the west this year. Their true freshman QB has a pretty good bowl game also.

I think UGA's preseason #1 ranking was based in part to the Hawaii beat down. Most SEC fans knew they weren't even the best team in their division.

I won't go as far as Prominent but he has a point. LSU went 7-5. We had problems defending the pass and spread teams in particular. We had serious issues at QB. And the toughest conference in the country ate us alive.
Then, we beat an overrated ACC team with an offense that is incapable of completing a forward pass in a bowl in which a true frosh QB plays well and all of a sudden folks here and in the national media (which is supposed to hate us) have us as a top 10 team.
I believe we should be realistic. I like Chavis and I think the defense will be improved but still worry these guys don't have it mentally. I worry that JJ will still have growing pains and wish we gave him more reps in 08. I think LSU is the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC coming back on paper (Florida, Ole Miss then LSU/Georgia/Bama). Which means we're probably 15-20 nationally.
I'm personally expecting 9-3 with a battle in Oxford for the SEC West.

alright alright, so maybe I didn't look it up. I was just going by the expectations of Auburn earlier this year. All the talk was about Kodi Burns. The offense was back. Blah blah blah fricking blah.
