I was offered a timeshare. Should I take it?

My neighbor is offering to transfer ownership of her timeshare to me at no cost. She has already paid it off, however I would be responsible for the annual fees which is approximately $1,000/yr. timeshare is through Wyndham. She said it is150,000 points annually and the points are valid every even year.
I don’t know much about timeshares but when I google it, pretty much every thing I read says stay away. But, it seems like so many people have a timeshare so it must not be all that bad?
Help me out here. Someone with timeshare experience give me some advice.

What’s the general rule about things that seem to be too good to be true?

Great opportunity. I see no reason to not jump on that offer.

Annual fees can and usually do increase.

Disney Vacation Club, yes; Marriott Vacation Club, maybe; Wyndham, NO

Stay away. The fine print can br brutal. My advice, if you want something along these lines, is to form an investment group and buy a property. Set your own rules and gain equity

So your neighbor fully paid it off and wants to walk away for nothing, to avoid $1000/yr in fees. Sounds legit with no catch whatsoever.

So, if I read right you get 300000 points every two years at a Wyndham resort. Factor the $2000 for two years and I bet you can stay at a pretty decent hotel for a week for that $2000.
This is an easy no.

You can get a lot of hotel rooms for $1,000 per year….
That said, one of my coworkers has a timeshare through Wyndham and he loves it. You have to use a timeshare a hell of a lot to be worth it.

Google Chuck McDowell.

Absolutely you should do it. That sounds like a pretty good deal. Almost as good as the one I got when I bought my timeshare AND was given a set of pots and pans for sitting through the presentation.

No and I didn’t even read the post.

Did your neighbor at least have the curtesy to give you a free 3 day vacation when they gave you the offer?
