I know of a hand full of revenge tournaments that's happened over the last month or two. What did you like and not like about all the setups those courses did and which course was your favorite? No need to bring up the 7.5 hour round Uclub took to play.

I think these are pretty lame.

I dont mind the hard pin placements

The placing tires and garbage all over the greens to block shots is annoying

Agree. I want golf. Tip it out. Grow out the rough. Tuck the pins. That's it

Revenge tournaments should make the course the hardest that it can be without adding the excess flair, IMO.

As revenge, I’d make sure all the bathrooms are dirty, there is zero water in the coolers, no tee markers and no flags.

I’d just not have staff show up that day, entirely. Nothing will be cut, fend for yourselves.

Enjoy.

And everyone has to walk.

Also, wear pants and have a caddy.

Just played in the Islands Tough Day and i can say it was set up really well. Different additions to a typical tough day scramble which in my opinion makes it fun because you never knew what the hole would do.
Course was in good shape as well which made it a better experience.

Also just played in the islands revenge tournament. They did have it set up different, teeing up with a baseball bat, tee off blindfolded, no pins on greens, tires on one green. Really a fun setup imo, my group had a blast. ALSO COLD AND WINDY, super tough lol. Island is always in good shape, especially this time of year. Greens getting quick cause of the Bermuda going dormant.

Played it this as well. While it was a fun day, I would have rather it not be as gimmicky.

The pins in the bunker, no pins with a random hole on the green, tires on the green, tee off in a toilet, etc were interesting but I would rather have pins located in the hardest and even borderline illegal location and tee boxed making you make incredible shots. That said I will definitely do it again next year as it is a steal for $100. (Green fee, cart girl drinks, and a good lunch covered).

I also don’t believe some of the scores. A plus handicap group shoots a 73 while a group of 12s shoot in the low 60s. But that is what you get with a scramble.

Years ago, we had a revenge tournament at Shenandoah CC ( man, I miss that place) and they placed a tractor in from of a green. The whole tournament, you could hear balls bouncing of it.
Good times…

Are the groups not paired to keep it honest?

I also found the scores to be sketchy

I think many groups submit their net score. Then it is netted again.

The group that shot 63 was not a group of 12s lol
It was the infamous Clayton brown and his buddies. Dudes are all +3 or better.
They also did have a group of 2 plus handicaps shoot like 4 over

Groups were paired in 6somes when we played.

2 groups of 3 on each hole

Clayton can play! That’s his home course too right?

That’s not the group I’m talking about. There was a mid flight group that netted mid to low 50s.

The island tournament was good, but a few of the gimmicks could’ve been taken out and play might’ve went a little faster.

Seems it was much easier for some higher handicappers to embrace the oddities than the better players

You didn’t say that was their net score, so I misunderstood.

Getting an insane amount of shots to remove from your score is pretty cheesy

Which gimmicks you didn't like? It was definitely a lot. Something happening on every hole.
