Annually, would it cost in the $25mil range to field a championship roster? What are we thinking here, and how does this affect the future of the transfer portal/recruiting?

I could see the transfer portal begin to settle down some once teams are paying current roster members "market value" as part of retaining them. The way HS kids are getting paid, the proven college talent is just trying to catch up on what they're being paid. You have to think that this will level out over the next year or so, and building/retaining a championship roster just costs X amount of $$.

Then calculate that amount divided by an estimated fan base and see what we all need to come up with because it has been outsourced to us. This cycle showed us that these "big spender" boosters got tight with their money all the sudden.

Atms historical #1, class was rumored to be around 20-25mm / yr. That's just 1 class ha. Not sure the truth to it. But #1 qb, wr, te, elite oline, 4 5 star dline.. kind of checks out since each will be getting 1mm+ a yr probably.

Think you need to multiply that by 2.5-3

Depends on who wins the National Championship?

$20M sounds like the max, but that doesn’t mean you will win it all nor does it mean you have to spend that in order to win it all

No one knows. Ohio State had the most expensive roster and they lost 2 games and may lose to Tenn in round 1. Ole Piss went nuts in the portal and lost 3 games. Penn State is most likely way below our NIL and they had a good year for what they probably spend. Bama's NIL is strong= 3 losses. Who knows. Be competitive in portal, fill needs, hope you hit way more than you don't and coach well.

Not as much as you'd think. Reference Michigan just last year.
Goal is to get kids that wanna win where they are and are willing to stick it out.
Bryce Underwood's of the world may succeed at the college level statistically but won't succeed in the W-L column range ala Jimbo TX A&M.

About $58,000,000 as of right now. It'll be a tad cheaper next year though.

Is that what it showed us? or didn’t show us we don’t have the fire power of Larry Ellison

Pretty sure I did the math once on Ole Miss starting defense at their estimated NIL value.. which that was around 11 mil. Think it had some players like Walter Nolan at $500K. He probably got way more than that.

But that 11 mil defense couldn’t even make the playoff.
