There is non if both teams agree to it. Clemson may just feel the same way.

Problem is SEC rule you have to have a non conference Power 4 game, so would have to figure that part out too.

Clemson has South Carolina every year in-state and they go to Columbia next year. I think both can agree to get out of it. LSU should look to play Tulane in game 1, give them the money, Tulane is a fringe 25 team, had they won their title game vs Army would be 19th where Army is ranked. This can have an in-state rivalry type feel.

Ohio State is 10-2 and did not play any OOC game, Indiana is 11-1 and did the same and played only 1 of the top BIG10 teams (Ohio State).

Scrap the Clemson game, LSU has 8 SEC games and none are gimmies next year.

Why is everyone being a pussy about a football game 9 months from now? Cancelling the game or trying to buy out of it. Damn. If y'all are afraid of competition go find another team to cheer. LSU should want to play good out of conference competition. Look at Ole Miss and the teams they played. Did it help them make the CFP when dropping 70 points on Furman? Did it help know where their team was heading into SEC play?

The comparison here is not SEC vs SEC, it is non SEC. Indiana is the comparison you need to do and SMU who did not play another P4 team either in their OOC schedule (they lost to Boise yes). It is not about OOC scheduling anymore, it is about getting into the CFP.

LSU has to schedule a P4 team by SEC scheduling rules, unless they have changed. We have no other right now and it may be difficult to get one on such short notice.

You’d have to replace Clemson with another P4 team. Not sure that’s doable this late

the SEC rules state you have to play at least 1 Power 4 team OOC every year.

Sorry, that does not compute with the way I’m wired. How about we just go play Clemson and win the game. I admire the fact that we don’t blink from anyone. Would prefer a tune up game, but if it’s on the schedule we play the game and honor our contract.

Indiana? I hope people realize these schedules are made years in advance. Who the frick knew that Indiana would have the year it did 5 years ago? Lol. You can't make that comparison. Indiana has their best year in 60 years. Do people think they will be this successful next year? Look at Kansas a few years ago. They had a great year. They have not done much since.

LSU fans need to stop this nonsense. SMU is in same boat. 5 years ago they were not a team thought to be worth anything. They are playing in a Power conference now and they will be playing tougher OOC competition soon.

When you look at Indiana, SMU, and Texas it makes sense not to have any hard ooc games

Texas has never really played hard OOC games even when they sucked. Tell me did you ever have Indiana as a potential CFP team 5 years ago when schedules are usually made? Do you think Indiana will repeat this success in the next couple years?

All of this is reactionary responses. This is the first year of the CFP that is 12 teams. After the games are played, they will see how the results go. I would rather LSU play a better OOC than a cupcake and the stadium is half empty at halftime.

True and you are correct, but Sankey is getting lots of heat. They can have a conference call after the bowls and CFP wraps up and change the rule.

Indiana getting in at 11-1 [great story] and SMU getting in, great story, I am old enough to remember vividly the death penalty that came down post Eric Dickerson era, etc, but what his shows is that Strength Schedule is not the primary metric, is more Strength of Record. Go 10-2 and get to 6-2 in the SEC and your in (LSU went 6-2 in the SEC in 2022 and 2023).

My view, and it is just that and people are free to disagree, focus on a schedule that gives you the best chance to get into the CFP. That is all that matters now.

So you rather play a good regular season game vs a playoff game?

This sounds retarded.

LSU loses a game against Clemson but does well enough in SEC, they will make the playoff.

Ole Miss this year was expected to make the CFP with their roster and schedule. How did playing cupcakes work out for them? They had a false sense of security by thinking they were great while beating Furman by 70 points.

This idea that playing a good OOC opponent will automatically disqualify LSU is ridiculous. If that is the case, the fans should be saying LSU needs to go to the Big 12 conference bc it easier to get to CFP. LSU fans being pussies bc they are scared.

LSU loses to Clemson and goes 6-2 against a very tough SEC schedule, they are 9-3 like they were n BK's 1st 2 years. They are sitting home like Bama, SCAR and Ole Miss are this year.

The only chance is somehow at 9-3 (6-2 in SEC play) the tie breakers fall your way and you to to Atlanta and win the Title game.

Ole Miss played a soft cupcake schedule and so did Bama. They were predicted to make the CFP this year. SC was not expected to be close to CFP. LSU was not either. This was a rebuild/transition year for LSU.

Why does everyone think LSU will lose to Clemson anyway? You think LSU will lose all tough games? Why think like that?

I don't think they will go 12-0 right now. I will wait until after fall scrimmages and what the roster and depth chart look like before making predictions.

It will be a 1 score spread so basically a 50-50 type game going in.

This is stupid. Let’s geaux and stomp a hole in the little tiggers at Clemson. Not afraid of this ACC team.
