Might be talkin about the one in BR. It is licensed as a bar, therefore in BR it has to be closed on sundays.

if so, ouch. that's awful.

they can't get a bar/grill or restaurant distinction like other sports bars that serve food?

If they go that route, then no smoking

is there a big patio at the BR location?

if so seems like it would be better to make that a smoking area and be open on sundays to cash in on football crowds.

i hate cigarette smoke and don't smoke, but to not be able to smoke in a bar type setting is pretty gay.

I think it's flat out sad that cities have ridiculous rules like this in place.

I would be pissed off...

What does BR gain by intertwining religion and government by not allowing bars to open on Sundays...except a loss of tax revenue and a chance to trample upon one's civil liberties.

Hopefully with more young city councilmen, and fewer of the aging Mayberry RFD ones retiring..

BR will get the needed downtown entertainment district laws, and Blue Law exemptions for places that serve a real menu instead of just mozarella sticks?

In some ways BR is downright archaic for a 650K greater metro.

I agree...it's Atlanta and other cities too...whe I go to ATL, I have to remember to grab beer and wine on Satuday since you can't sell it at a store on Sundays.

Say what you will about New Orleans, but we have it right when it comes to serving alchohol any day of the week...and not having a closing time for bars.

ETA: Religion (sunday closings) should not be intertwined into government.

It think it not being open on sundays has something to do with the percentage of food vs liquor sales. Same reason the Fox and the Hound is the only one in the country that doesn't open on sundays.

So it is okay to trample on the rights and beliefs of the thousands of Christians, Jews and Muslims so that you can drink in a bar on the Lord's day?

What the hell does a Muslim not drinking on Sunday have to do with a GOVERNMENT ordinance not allowing a bar to open on Sunday.

If the Muslim or Jew is against it, don't go into the fricking bar.

The Holy Day for Jews is Saturday. I think the holy day for Muslims is everday. It is called government sticking their nose where it does not belong. How about offending aetheists and agnostics?

The whole society known as the City of BR would collapse if wine were actually to be sold at 10:59 AM on a Sunday....GASP!

Seriously, anyone who supports laws like this needs to get their heads checked. Government has no business telling a legal adult or a licensed storeowner when he can sell a legal product to a legal person.

I agree with this. Although, I also love the smoking ban on any place licensed as a restaurant, so I guess I'm a bit of hypocrite.

Does BR do a special or something about bars being open on Super Bowl Sunday? I've always attended house parties and never thought about that.
