Gun Safe/Storage

Looking to get a safe or cabinet of some sort to secure my guns. I’m not terribly concerned about fire or theft per se. Mostly looking to keep them secured from the kids and their friends in the house.
I’m not opposed to a full safe but looking at the locking cabinets as well, SecureIt seems to be most popular. I also want to have some room for some other items that I like to keep secure.
I’m going to be stored 4 long guns now and a handful of pistols but need room to grow.
What sizes/brands does the OB recommend?
TIA

I have a couple of Liberty brand 23 cubic feet size ones. They are made so you can have shelves on one side and long gun storage on the other. I have dial locks on mine as I do NOT trust the digital code locks. Opinions vary there.
Determined educated thieves can get into these reasonably quickly according to videos I’ve seen on the web. The trick is they need to lay them down. If you can put one in a closet and bolt it to the floor you can thwart all but the most determined burglars I think. There’s all kinds of brands and ratings for fire protection that I believe aren’t universally tested to be the same (comparable among brands). Weight is about the most important spec to me. YMMV

The digital pads are a pain
My battery went dead and now I can’t open mine
I may have to call a locksmith

What brand do you have. The pads in mine have the battery accessible from the exterior. So you just replace the battery and open the safe. That would be a really stupid design if the only access to changing the battery was opening the safe.

One thing I look for is a key backup option.

Whatever size you think you need, get bigger.

Whatever you think you are growing to... get bigger

My Winchester crapped out and they sent me an upgraded one. I unplugged it and plugged the new one in, no locksmith needed.

Can’t stress this enough.
I would say if you think you need a 12 gun, get a 24 gun.

I picked up one of these on sale at Academy for the same reasons.
It's worked great on keeping others away from my firearms.
It's also what I could afford at the time.

$169 at Tractor Supply if you pick up at the store.

Amd if bolted in a corner with the handle cluster to the wall it really makes getting leverage to pry it open very difficult.

My dad bought me one of these for christmas last weekend for Black Friday. They’ve gone up $50, but they’re still on sale.

I had it professionally brought into the house. The guy that brought it inside said to always take the number it’s advertised at and cut it in half. That’s about how many you’ll be able to fit in it.
- Basic/bird shotguns are typically 1 gun.
- Bolt actions with scopes are 2-3 guns.
- ARs are considered 4-ish (depends what’s on them).
ETA: probably shouldn’t show off the collection.
