If the guys headed to the NFL don't play (Campbell, Taylor, likely Jones, others?) and 10-20 others likely in the transfer portal, we could see some really thin position groups. Offensive line might be ugly, for one.

Transfer portal should not open up till after bowl games

Isn't this gonna be true for most teams? Non-playoff bowl games are even more meaningless now than they used to be, and they have already been meaningless for several years now

bowl game result will be totally meaningless especially if one team has more opt outs then the other
use it as a jumpstart for next season and get some playing time for young players
only problem is you risk major injury for someone like Nuss if Campbell and Taylor don't play

new reality is if you are not seeing meaningful playing time in two years you are probably hitting the portal

This will be the reality for all schools not in the playoff. The calendar needs to change or just do away with bills.

Think the issue gets mostly resolved once they approve the unlimited roster rule. Bowl games will turn into a freshman / lower end of the roster show case type of game

I'm not spending hundreds of dollars and no telling how much hotels will be to watch a scrimmage game

I’d be ok with that.

Honestly, they should consider scheduling bowl games as the kickoff weekend for the next season, similar to how European domestic league results qualify teams for euro championships played during the next season.

College football season ends and teams get slotted into next years kickoff weekend bowls. Playoff teams schedule cupcake openers on consideration of their season extending into January.

As with almost every team. Face it. The bowl games are basically useless now except for the extra practice you get.

It's an exhibition for the younger guys. All it is and that is fun if you think of it that way. And it's good for getting experience before next year.
