The 2025 season seems to completely hinge on the Nuss decision at this point

Whatever your thoughts are about him he would be our best option by far at QB next year

Even if we land someone like Bryce Baker it's rare that true freshmen are ready to be SEC QBs

If he declares for the draft we'll need to find a portal QB as a stop gap for next year and hope we can catch lightning in a bottle for the 3rd time

Lighting still needs someone blocking for him.

Jones is a very important decision as well

If he announces his return, who knows maybe CJ Daniels decides to stay

Putting a lot of eggs in one basket for a guy who looked horrible in 4 games, but looked good in the last 6 quarters of Football he played. Lots of sunshine pumping around here.

Relying heavily on a returning senior QB who ranks third in single-season passing yards behind two Heisman winners, Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels. He’s poised to surpass Daniels’ passing yardage in the upcoming bowl game. Ranked 14th in total QBR across all of college football and projected as the fourth-highest QB in mock drafts by scouts. But sure, we don’t want him back.

I dont think Nuss is coming back

He put up damn strong numbers with a limited run game, zero protection, and few if any WRs that could get separation. I think Campbell and Daniels leaving is either a clue, or a reason that Nuss will be moving on

Hes probably waiting to see what the market will bear. If holding a clipboard will pay more than NIL, he wont be back. Theres no reason for him to believe that the OLine and WRs will be better

Ever hear of the transfer portal? As I stated several days ago, of the top 6 ranked teams a week or two ago, 5 of them had transfer portal starters. Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Miami, and Notre Dame. And BTW, ALL of them except Ewers of Texas I believe started the next season after their transfer.

I'll have to disagree on the zero protection...he faced pressure in some games late in the season but he had a clean pocket for many games as well

Can't say I disagree with this. Although there is a slight chance we improve the WR group in the portal. Daniels still may return and Lacy wasn't a typical WR1 by our standards.

The 2025 season will be a repeat of the 2024 season if not worse at this point unless staff changes are made on offense/special teams.

That is the fact.

And the fanbase has done nothing but shite on him for weeks.

If I'm Nuss I'm not giving a discount.

Yes

Pretty obvious I've heard of it if you look at the entirety of my post

I don't know that we'll catch lightning in a bottle again however

I don't expect LSU to sign a future Heisman Trophy winner from the portal. So LSU doesn't remotely need to catch "lightning in a bottle". A QB with a quicker release than Nussmeier and certainly a better runner (that part is very easy to find) would help right there. I'm not saying he will be better or worse than Nussmeier overall but I certainly don't think that the 2025 season "completely hinges on Nussmeier's decision." That is hyperbole.

We'd probably have to land the best portal QB to stay even or upgrade from Nuss

I don't know who is even available

If Portal QBs were better than Nuss, why aren't they in the draft instead of the Portal?

I would like to believe that he would want to fine tune his trade, and jump into the early part of the first round. I would not blame him though if he left, given the haters. Dude had no high profile receivers and only Hilton could get open deep, and he didn't show up until the final game. On top of that, he had no running game which made them one dimensional, and much easier to scheme against, especially without elite WR's. To top it off, his interior line was absolute dogshite and after the injury to our LG, he spent the last several games under intense pressure right up the middle every game......yet there are still haters on here that don't acknowledge any of that.

That's just ridiculous. This was his first year starting. As many have noted, JB nor JD lit it up there first year starting at LSU. But, somehow, people don't think he can and will improve. Just stupidity. He looked damn good the last two games and especially OU, who has a really good D. It appears the light bulb finally came on, and he threw away the ball when needed, instead of forcing it trying to make a play, and he even ran a little. He seemed in complete control. This board has some really low IQ posters, and in some cases, trolls.

Thats why I said there was some other narrative those posters were pushing. They kept saying he rarely stepped into the pocket, when the rush was usually coming straight up the middle. There was rarely a pocket to step into. Chester was the worst, Then the injuries made it even worse
