Sounds like Tebucky Jones.

I read somewhere moore was more athletic (agile) and is therefore more versatile ...better in coverage than mays ??
At Free Safety position would we prefer a cover guy...

Uh no. Teebucky Jones was probably bigger, faster, and more phsyical than Ed Reed which was the better safety?
Moore is more agile and has better ball and coverage skills. We don't need help in run support(where Mays would be good) we need a ugy who can cover. Which Moore can.

Roy Williams comes to mind !!

When does that make u the better football player..Everytime I watch USC I dont see anythng special about Mays..I want a good football player not a physical specimen...I want a player who makes plays on the feild..And for all the ppl on this board who think he runs a 4.2

Mays = Laron Landry IMO
(USC's version of Laron Landry)
Might be Germanish but did Mays declare for the draft yet.

I must say, I've only seen Moore play once or twice, but I haven't been overly impressed. He looks like a good prospect but I just haven't seen enough of him to say he's the guy.
I have seen Mays a number of times and he's a Beast. He reminds me of LaRon Landry and Roy Williams. His coverage skills are decent, but he's usually looking to lay someone out rather than int the ball. Also, USC has produced some good safeties in the past.
All that being said, it's a gamble on either player as you never know what they will become. I've just been overly impressed with Mays and think he will be a good saftey in the NFL.

not yet. I think he will, but I don't think it's as much of a lock as it would seem. His mom really wants him to come back while his dad wants him to go. His parents are loaded (microsoft execs), so money isn't an issue

If it was this year he's been dinged up this season. In addition if you watch the Mizzou D basically every team throws around Moore he is like a black hole out there. If he gets close to a receiver the ball isn't going there.
I'm not saying he's THAT good, but the rest of the Mizzou secondary blows so the ball goes away from him and he doesn't make as many plays.

Taylor Mays S 6’3 230 USC Jr.
By: Robert Davis
Mays was expected to be eased into action as a freshman, but a season ending knee injury to starter Josh Pinkard forced him into action. He started 12 games as a freshman, tallying 62 tackles and four interceptions on the year.
As a sophomore last year, he again was the teams starter at free safety and he finished the year with 65 tackles and a pick, earning quite a few All American awards in the process.
Strengths
You could not draw up a better safety prospect than Taylor Mays. He has fantastic size, at a chiseled 6’3 230lbs, but combines that with fantastic speed and athleticism. It is not all just in workouts that Mays stands out. He displays all those gifts on the field as well.
His role at USC has been to patrol deep coverage and be the last line of defense. That has limited his ability to produce eye popping stats, and limits his opportunities near the line of scrimmage. He is physical and will lay offensive players out on the field. With his strength and speed, he packs a punch when he hits receivers. Mays has shown the athleticism to match up in coverage with players, and the speed to cover a lot of ground when he has to pursue. There isn’t anything on the field he cannot do.
Weaknesses
Mays has missed a fair amount of tackles, which shouldn’t happen considering his size. The problem appears to be that he tries to knock people out instead of trying to wrap up. He will have to work on that tendency in the NFL, because it will be a major problem in the league. While his role doesn’t allow him to fly around the field with reckless abandon, you would like to see more playmaking numbers from Mays as well.
Future
With all the talent on the USC defense, Mays may actually be limited on the field because he doesn’t get to fly around the field making plays. He draws criticism because his numbers pale in comparison to other top prospects, but it is not because he cannot do them. As a junior this year though, you do want to see him take advantage of more opportunities and make some more plays. If Mays continues to improve and declares for the draft, he is a player that could be drafted extremely high.

William Moore S 6’1 230 Missouri
By: Robert Davis
Moore had a solid freshman season, tallying 30 tackles and an interception in 2005. He was more active as a sophomore, finishing the year with 51 tackles, while picking off another pass. Moore had a breakout junior year though, where he had 117 tackles and eight interceptions on his way to All America honors.
Strengths
Moore is a physical safety that is a playmaker as a run and pass defender. He has excellent size in the secondary, and uses it to lay receivers out over the middle of the field. Moore is aggressive in attacking the action and delivers a blow when he meets the ball carrier. What separates Moore from most 230lb safeties is his cover ability. He is a good athlete that has tremendous ball skills. He easily locates the ball in the air and shows the ability to go up and make plays on the football.
Weaknesses
Moore does not have many shortcomings on the field, but he does lack tremendous closing speed. He is not in poor shape, but operating in the 220 range may give him an extra step and ease this concern but he can have problems recovering when a player beats him.
Future
Moore is a legitimate first round pick at the safety position. He has the skills, toughness, and instincts to be a perennial pro bowler in the NFL. This could be a very good safety class if a couple underclassmen declare, and where Moore goes exactly will depend on those decisions and workouts in the post season. Wherever he is selected, he will make his team happy and be a high impact defender.

William Moore
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 230 | 40-Time: 4.50

Strengths:
Outstanding size with long arms...Muscular with great bulk...A great athlete...Tough and physical...A big hitter who strikes fear into the hearts of the opposition...Does a terrific job against the run...Has excellent range...Explosive with a burst to close...Decent hands and ball skills...Has shown the ability to make plays in coverage...Real versatile...Productive...Strong work ethic...A team leader and captain.
Weaknesses:
Durability is a concern...Questionable instincts...Can be slow to read and react...Misses too many tackles...Too aggressive at times...Lacks fluid hips...Speed is merely average...Will struggle to match up with wideouts in man coverage...Needs to face the action...Lets emotions gets the best of him ... Was a two year starter for the Tigers...Began his college career as a cornerback...A 2nd Team All-American in 2007...Previously wore #21...Missed three games with a hamstring injury in 2005 and later required offseason surgery to place a screw in his broken foot...Underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder following the 2007 season...Was hindered by foot and rib injuries for most of his senior season...Was kept near the line a lot in 2008 and that was a big reason for the drop in his interception totals...Hybrid who has been used in a variety of different roles and has the ability to operate like a free safety, strong safety or corner...Impressive physical specimen who looked like a future Top 10 overall pick at one point...Stock dropped a bit as a senior but he still has a lot of potential.
