Thanks, but I didn’t need any more reasons to
not go on a cruise!

Cruises already have port fees included in the final cost. I’m guessing this is a separate cost.

This is how many people find out how tariffs really work. You see, cruise lines will absorb the cost or no longer go to Mexico. Probably more of the latter. There sure are a lot of Caribbean destinations outside of Mexico.

Won't happen, they will lose all that tourism dollars. No cruise ship would go there.

Everyone knows how tariffs work. You retards aren’t some economic geniuses. People would take hire cost on avocados and tequila in exchange for not paying for the healthcare and housing of 20 million people who depress wages. I can drink America tequila and eat California avocados.

Only part of their congress. It won't pass or they lose billions in tourism.

Oh no, it looks like I’ll have to find some other way to spend too much money on watered down drinks and crappy overpriced souvenirs that will end up at Goodwill in a couple years.

Nobody likes tariffs, but they're like an ICBM in economic strategy – nobody wants to use them, but the threat alone is powerful. International diplomacy is just another battlefield where we should use our brains as much as our military.

Sadly, our government has been pretty dumb about this for a long time, not using all the diplomatic tools we have. It's like going into a fight with just a few arrows when you have a whole quiver.

It's good, though late, to see the left finally admit that business taxes just get passed onto consumers. This isn't news to anyone who's been paying attention – taxes don't vanish; they just get added to the price we pay.

The real hypocrisy is how often those on the left, who love to talk about free trade, actually support tariffs. It shows they're not consistent and don't really follow the economic ideas they claim to support.

Ha! So they think they will punish TOURISTS? Lmfao. Well, that’s the thing about tourism, we don’t NEED to go see your Country, there’s about a BILLION other Caribbean destinations that aren’t in Mexico. See how that works?

Convenient that you left off the second half of my statement. People aren't going pay more to go on a cruise that stops in Cozumel or Cancun...lol

They have 3 options. Absorb the cost, try to pass it along to consumers, or just stop going there. I just listed the 2 most likely to happen.

A lot of countries have these type of "tourist" taxes. Even some states impose them, book a room in Hawaii and see the $25 tourist tax.

The cruise lines will avoid Mexico and when they are cut off from all that money they already get from tourism, they'll whistle a different tune I bet!
