I do not understand why everyone is so ready to go ahead and pencil Randle in on the depth chart? With Terrance Toliver, Lafell, the Mitchell's (if Jared remains at LSU), Deangelo Peterson, Chris Toliver, etc. returning, what makes you so sure that he can play?

What freshman has been able to come in and make an immediate impact as a freshman receiver (considering all of the talent we have had at that position)?

Hes not nearly as raw as TT was and he played plenty his Freshman year. RR is a better prospect than TT was and probably is the best receiver prospect to come out of Louisiana since Reggie Wayne, IMO.

Just take a look at how long it has taken receivers to get any kind of valuable playing time at LSU the last few years.

Toliver made some pretty impressive strides as a true frosh, and the main reason he stayed on the sideline was his inability to grasp the playbook and be a reliable blocker in the run game... Randle will likely not have these problems.

Most importantly, Randle could serve as a go-to, possession receiver as a true frosh.

Pretty bold statement about someone who has never played a snap at the collegiate level...especially for his first year as a receiver.

He and Benton would play in the 1st game. I am also excited about Peterson, chris toliver, john williams, and a few others.

I seem to remember Toliver, Doucet, and Clayton all seeing significant playing time as true freshmen

Oh he'll play, I don't know how those guys are going to make a difference anyway. Considering he'll be in crimson lined up across from Julio.

just throwing a little smack talk, I hope he comes to Bama, but who knows

His senior year was the only year he didn't play receiver. He played QB because he was the best person for the job. He caught plenty of passes from Randal Mackey as a sophomore and junior. Please if you are going to post nonsense make it credible nonsense.

benton. shite forgot about him. He would be behind lafell, tolliver, benton. then compete with

peterson, michels, toliver, bell (and yes, shepard too). shite i see why he is taking his time. That is alot of depth to overcome.

hell the more i think about it the more i realize that losing him would not be the end of the world.

sounds like he is looking for the fastest track to the nfl.

and looking at the depth chart can you really blame him if he doesn't come here??? I would have to look at alabamas and oklahomas depth chart to make a more acurate statement though for sure.

Well I would not go that far

After Lafell leaves, we don't have any senior leadership at WR

The Mitchell's aren't all star talent IMO, solid, yes

TT has potential to be a star, and he is a junior next year, already!

So If RR were to redshirt, He would be the top dog for 3 years, maybe 4..

I say that is contributing early and often

You forgot about Tim Molten(sp)?

More people should realize this. RR would be a huge hit on our recruting if we lost him but the over all picture still looks VERY damn good!

It would be pretty funny if he went to Bama and never won a damn thing while we're winning championships. I think Joe McKnight is in the position now. lol

Don't worry we've got talent out the arse at the WR position.

Lafell, Toliver, and Benton are his only competition. He's a completely different receiver than Tolliver, J. and C. Mitchell, and Bell. And saying that he would be competing with Shepard for PT at WR is nothing short of ridiculous (ETA: I'm not saying Shepard won't see snaps as a receiver, but he won't be competing for PT with Randle because they would be in completely different roles).

D. Peterson is interesting because he's a physical anamoly, but Randle is a more polished receiver right now than Peterson.

In my humble opinion, saying that Randle wouldn't get PT at WR for LSU is about as factual as saying McKnight wouldn't get PT at RB for USC his freshman year. The true "elite" athletes will get their touches.

Because he's better than all of them.
