Me again, iron talk #12
I’m playing m1’s and want a new flashy toy.
Anyone play p790s? Can a mid to high level play these?
They sure look pretty. Would there be any difference in game assuming I can hit them?

I have a set of Titleist T300 Game Improvement and recently bought a cheap used set of P790s. Comparing them side by side, there is not a huge difference in the head size. I have been able to enjoy the P790s but will get fitted for shafts soon.

I'm an 8 and play the 790's and I love them. I would say a mid to high handicapper would be fine playing these clubs. The lofts are stronger than average so you might have to adjust your woods/hybrids and wedges to make up the gap difference. I would also say that if your above 20 you'd need more of a game improvement irons, they are even more forgiving than the 790's with a larger face, sweet spot and wider sole to help keep from hitting fat shots. I could probably use the 770's but I'm playing good with these and see no need to switch.

I’m a mid 80s to 90s golfer.
I got an ok swing and some days feel really on.
I think I got the speed for them. I’ll hit a few first.
Would I see any real difference beteeen them and my M1s?
Definitely interested in their look which, though cosmetic, like all hobbies sometimes you want some new crap.

100% that’s who it’s made for. However, I’m a lower handicap and I play the Sub70 version of the P790. It fits my game great. I think you’ll like them. Most people do.
On a side note, take a look at the Sub70 699 pro. It is their version of a P790 for 1-2 the price, and world class customer service. I’ve talked to the head club fitter multiple times and the CEO twice. ( I’m not special, they do it for everyone.)

I found the 790s to be fairly hot when I tried them during a fitting. Could get jumpers even with similar strikes due to them generally having a lower spin than other similar options. I was getting low 5000s with a 7 iron for instance, so I went another direction (T200s).
Would recommend at least hitting some and seeing if you like them. They look and feel nice and are forgiving enough if you make solid contact repetitively.

The 790's are excellent irons, especially with the Nippon or MMT shafts.
Very underrated IMO.

I played the 790s from a 12 to an 7. Things were rocket launchers. Moved into some T150s to get better front to back dispersion.
