The bashing of BK in the media is getting ridiculous. NYT Article released.

The NYT/Athletic put together an article just crapping on him.
Its easy to kick someone while their down and sports media never fails to do so but my question is… what really separates him from Kiffin, Deboer, Elko and those guys. Why is he getting the most shame for playing below expectations this year when there’s plenty of other guys in the SEC doing it.
My guess: Notre Dame is held highly in the media. It’s the big Catholic school. They couldn’t believe someone would leave there to go coach LSU and paint ND bad in the media.

It is really odd. No one is thrilled with Kelly, but he does have the third highest winning percentage in SEC play of any coach in the conference. He certainly catches a disproportionate amount of heat.

LSU isn't even really "playing beneath national expectations", a lot of publications expected them to miss the playoffs and finish around 5th in the SEC.
Alabama, Ole Miss, and Missouri were all considered legitimate playoff contenders.

I understand the frustration for Kelly getting singled out when there's other coaches struggling to. With that being said bring the fricking heat. You know how you stop the critics from riding your arse? Winning. Year 4 no more excuses.

Those guys are still building reputations. Kelly has established himself as a good coach for decades with the only negative being that he can't seem to win the big one. He has lost more than the big one since coming to LSU, so by those standards, the criticism is warranted.

I have noticed this too. My MSN newsfeed on my browser homepage is loaded with hit pieces. Probably 4 out of 5 articles on LSU football are raw BK hit hit stories. Athlon has been particularly bad but SI, NYT, on3, LA paper.
Larry Ellison has a shitton of money and I was curious if him and Mich are pumping these exaggerated stories out to keep the pressure on recruits to flip.

The fact that a highly compensated "big name" coach in his 3rd year at LSU is not expected to make a 12 team playoff is below expectations. Perhaps not for the season, but for this point in his tenure. I didn't read the article, and perhaps it's all about this year, but Kelly definitely has us behind almost everyone's (including his own) expectations for year 3.
