Louisiana goes from 46th to 40th ranked in education

“Louisiana students continue to make progress. A third consecutive year of growth is a testament to the many talented educators across our state and the student-first commitment from Governor Landry, the legislature, and our board,” said Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley.

In the grand scheme of things, that's a solid, if unspectacular, jump.

That’s actually awesome news.

Gotta start somewhere. 6 spots seems like a pretty good jump to me

Absolutely. I joke about it, but I remember in the 80s as a student in Monroe learning we were always battling it out with Mississippi for 49th.

That’s a solid improvement. If some OTer said 5 years ago that LA education would be 40th by 2024, he’d be laughed at.

You learn a lot more reading the 10 commandments than you learn trying to read a pride flag

I truly wonder how much of an impact was made on the massive increase in home schooling students. I remember after COVID, there was a huge jump in families pulling kids from school to home school them. Could help alleviate some of the teacher workload.

I'm always skeptical of these reports, but certainly great news if legit.

Severe Retardation to Mild Retardation

Are these scores relative to public schools only?
I ask because I know the past couple of years Catholic schools have seen an increase in enrollment and so has homeschooling.
I am just wondering if all these tests fall under the same umbrella.
If so..

Solid improvement. Congrats to the admin and educators of LA.
If they want to see drastic improvement, give admin and teachers tools to discipline and hold kids accountable. Focus on the kids that want to be there.

It’s crazy how Louisiana is ranked higher than texas now

Well, if you’re at the bottom you can only go up

Cade Brumley is the difference and if more shackles are removed, the progress would be better. He’s doing this with one arm and leg tied.
Cade would make a great Governor as he’s a professional administrator.

I would imagine it didn't hurt. But some cities have school of choice options (by non-typical means) and charter academies. There are many non-public choices that parents are making today. I think all of this helps.

Ascension Parish on top as usual. I'm glad they're finally bringing the Donaldsonville scores up.

13 schools earned "A" ratings
12 schools earned "B" ratings
6 schools earned "C" ratings
For the FIRST TIME EVER, we have NO "D" or "F" schools!
