I can understand that we have some serious deficiencies in several aspects of the team, but what I cannot understand is how atrocious the play calling is and how it has gone unchecked all year. I’m certainly not a football guru but I do know my fair share about the game. We constantly start drives off with a low percentage pass for an incompletion on 1st down, followed by a RPO run right up the middle for minimal to no gain, leaving us in a 3rd and long. The lack of creativity and just the ability to mix things up from time to time is mind boggling.

playcalling is dictating by your personnel.

Actually, we threw a bunch of high percentage throws against UF for minimal gains

there is perception vs reality here.

Against A&M we really got into a Pass, Run Pass rut.

but it’s not event drive and it’s not every game.

But if you don’t gain a lot of yards on first and second whether you’re running or passing you’re in a spot on 3rd down.

Fundamentally, we have issues with our OL run blocking. and that’s any down.

We all know the right play all is the one that works but it is really hard to evaluate any scheme or play calling when you have execution issues like we’re having.

We never know what play was called and what was changed or what was checked into in the time the team breaks the huddle until the ball gets snapped. Then you have the simultaneous reads by the QB and the receivers during the play. So thinking that a play was called in the huddle and the team just walked up to the LOS and snapped it and the result sucked is the grossest oversimplification that can be made…

It has been my impression that the play changes and reads create more errors in execution than anything especially if you misread the defense.

t is amazing that people are complaining about the play calling. We rushed for 180 yds. Nuss was 27/47 for 260 and one TD. If the receivers don't drop the balls, I counted 5, some say there were 9, If Hilton doesn't whiff on 2 passes and Taylor doesn't step out of bounds on a 20 yd completion, Nuss is 35/47 for over 400 yds and probably 4 TD. So they would have had almost 600 yds of offense if the players just made the plays yet there are people actually criticizing the play calling.LOL.

They never ever run screens! They do
Wr screens for 4 yards but rarely a rb screen or wheel route. Guessing Durham would be difficult to cover is the a track guy ?
