Some believe Hegseth is too young and not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense. Do these people believe that JFK was likewise unqualified?

JFK was 43 when he was elected President of the Unites States and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. Hegseth is 44. DJT has nominated him to be the Secretary of Defense. Kennedy and Hegseth both served in the military and were awarded medals and commendations for their service. Kennedy was a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Navy and Hegseth was a Major in the Army National Guard. Kennedy served in the Pacific during WWII and Segweth served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Kennedy had a undergrad degree from Harvard. JFK was a congressman. It is reported that he showed very little interest in the running of his office or the concerns of the people he represented. He had one of the highest rates of absenteeism in the House, which he attributed to illnesses. Evidently, Marilyn Monroe and many other women thought he was quite healthy.

Hegseth has a BA from Princeton and a Masters from Harvard. He worked at Bear Stearns after graduating from Princeton as an equity capital markets analyst. In 2012, He later withdrew from the race before the Republican convention. Hegseth worked briefly at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, was Exec. Dir of Vets for freedom and Exec. Dir. of Concerned Citizens for America. Hegseth joined Fox News in 2014.

I really don't see the issue with Hegseth. He was a multiple-awarded commissioned officer who served in the field, in a warzone. He's ivy league educated and served in multiple different military oriented think tanks. The only legitimate argument against him is "I disagree with his ideology", which for better or worse is nothing something the senate should be considering when evaluating presidential appointments.

He's clearly qualified.

The problem is the octogenarians think 44 is too young. Normal people their age are enjoying retirement and grand kids and great grandkids. Hell no, not the DC elite. They have to be wheeled away from their power.

Well one of the main differences you already mentioned. Has Hegseth banged an A list Hollywood actress?

They are terrified that the kids they sent to war are grown up and getting into power now.

No there are 2 main problems with Hegseth

1- he has been at Fox and not bought by the MIC for 20+ years
2 - he doesn't want to get us into wars

If ole Weinstein banged them, then I'm sure Hegseth has nailed a few.

Donald Rumsfield was younger than Hegseth when he became SECDEF at 43 in 1972. He was a Naval Captain. Graduated from Princeton, but no Masters.

I'm thinking Hegseth is plenty qualified resume wise.
