Do not draft a QB in 1st

Now that we are officially restarting, and will have a high pick- so many people are going to mock a QB to us. We are currently not a good destination for a young QB!
When Dan Campbell became coach of the Lions they were in as bad a shape as we are. Their very first pick- top ten offensive lineman. We are not competing for anything next year. Let Carr play another year so that his contract doesn’t cripple us. Have a new OT to pair w Fuaga and then get a 1st rd QB in 2026.

Would not be mad at a monster OL or DL pick.

Yeah with 80 mill in dead cap and a bunch of aging players it's too messy gotta get out of the hole first.

I 100% agree with you, but the Lions didn’t have a shitty cap situation and also got 3 extra 1st round picks from the Rams and Jared Goff. Those picks became Jamo, Gibbs, and Laporta.
They had and still have a ton of cap space. They also had a huge amount of draft capital.
The situations are completely different.

They also didn’t have Loomis who absolutely fricked them over trying to “win now” without a fricking quarterback

I’m not sold on the idea, but Travis Hunter in the first would be interesting. The reason I’m not Im not a fan of taking him is bc I don’t think he is built to be a #1 WR and we have bigger needs than a CB. Not even sure which position he will play in the NFL.
But Hunter, Taylor, Koolaid, is a really nice young group.

Not the saints shitty but it wasn’t good. Better now bc they ate the shite and nearly all of their talent is homegrown
Draft picks are part of the path to financial freedom. Saints should be dumping anyone they can for picks

lol you take a franchise qb if you think you find him. What are you talking about? I don’t care where they find them. If you have a chance and he’s your guy then you draft him. The lions also instantly traded Stafford and got Goff. So once they got their qb then they went after the rest.

I’d play him at corner full time. And then have a few plays on third down only obvious passing situations to come in as the 4th receiver.
That’s how I’d use him.

I would say look at the following QB’s: Darnold, Baker, and Geno Smith. Each of those guys are having success with their 2nd, third or fourth team. Why? Bc the teams that drafted them had no support around them and they looked awful.
History shows that franchise QB’s do not have a flashing sign saying they are great. Most do not work out bc they are put into terrible situations.
Current QB’s that were “franchise, can’t pass up”: Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, Daniel Jones, Kenny Pickett, etc.
As further proof, I give you Brock Purdy. Went to a loaded team and is doing well. If he got drafted by the Jets, Colts, Panthers, Patriots, etc do you think he would have worked out?
