If it’s just light surface rust, you will probably be fine after you smooth it out with some oil and steel wool, but it would be a good idea to keep it wiped down with oil regularly.

It's 0000-steel wool, not the brillo pad from under the kitchen sink. A web search will provide great guidance from credible sources (and not a rando U-Tube video).

I don't want to be the fussy dude, but you should have chewed on his arse a little. Every gun is a worthy tool and should be respected. My grandpa taught me to take good care of all my guns no matter what standing they had in my arsenal. I taught the same thing to my son. I have guns that spent many a hunt being dragged through the Basin that look like the day they entered my possession.


Don't mean to pick, I just take care of my tools, no matter what their purpose.

lol he did hear it for a while not just me but his mama too.

He said his dog was acting like an idiot that day and he just forgot to grab it when he was calling for him to come back so they could come to the house.
