This thread is for all non-Pels topics that do not need their own thread.

I'll start this month by noticing that that the West is as strong as ever.

So far, the East is a collective 37-44, while the West is 41-34 -- that's a stark difference.

So far the Bucks are the surprise team that sucks. I don't read too much into it this early. Remember the Lakers two seasons ago?

But it's worth keeping an eye on. Sixers are also garbage without their always injured stars.

Let's see how that goes - but they have nothing of value they'd be willing to trade.

Just not a lot of sellers yet. Still not seeing a market or fit for BI.

Reminder Thunder have LAC unprotected pick plus Philly pick

Thunder with their 5th straight win of 12+ points. That is the longest streak to start a season in NBA history.

The Thunder have had only 1 longer streak in their history. Last season they won 6 straight games by 12+ points back in February.

Sam Presti is the longest tenured GM in the league. Average tenure of a GM is 3 years. Sam Presti has been the GM since 2007. He became the General Manger at the age of 29 which made him the second youngest GM in NBA history.

He’s 48 now

57 NBA players have made a 3-pointer in each game their team has played.

7 players were eliminated yesterday:
Payton Pritchard
Ziaire Williams
Patrick Williams
Paolo Banchero
Moritz Wagner
Domantas Sabonis
Malik Monk

The Thunder are going to be favorites this year, but i don't have faith in sga being "the guy" on a title team.

I thought it was an achilles when I saw it live. Joel and AD were talking about his ankle, but the ankle didn't roll.

Watching 39-year-old Chris Paul being guarded by 37-year-old Mike Conley right now.

UPDATE: Halftime entertainment in SAN was a high-school dance team made up mostly of fat girls. Like, genuinely fat and unable to jump or actually do much of anything resembling actual dance moves.

Thunder improve to 6-0.

OKC was the first team in NBA history to win their first 5 games by 12+ points... they've now done it 6 straight.

Thunder double dips by helping their potential Clippers pick swap

The Warriors somehow seem like a much better team than everyone thought.

Giannis scores 34 and Dame 41, and the Bucks still lose again and are now 1-5.

This happens every year, there’s some team everyone thought would be average and they just run through the schedule blowing teams out.

Sacramento was that team 2 years ago, Pacers last year.

I watched a lot of the Spurs win over the Wolves last night, and my big takeaway was that Gobert looked old. Part of that, of course, is playing against Wemby and having Wemby dunk on him and block his Gobert's own dunk attempt, but it was more than that.

Gobert finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and zero blocks or steals in 23 minutes. The Spurs finished the game with 52 points in the paint.

He ain't the DPOY this season, I promise you that. LeBron may be able to beat Father Time until age 40, but Rudy Gobert looks like he lost at age 32.

EDIT: And yes, 3 rebounds is the correct number.

I decided to look, and Gobert's average On/Off differential for the past five seasons is +8.4 points per game. So far this season, it's +1.0. The Wolves are barely better off with Gobert on the floor than they are with him on the bench. That's a big part of why the Wolves are 3-3, and why they don't look like contenders so far.

They just gave this guy a big extension, but they can't close games with him? What gives?

They have too many options to balance. And Udoka likes to play a wing heavy lineup for defensive purposes.
